DOWN.
How will EFL league attendances be impacted by the extended live TV coverage throughout the 2024/25 season?
If the crowds, on average, are 10 to 20 per cent down the new TV deal may not be considered a wise decision.
Instead of crowds of 9 or 10 thousand tomorrow, it is likely that a crowd of 8,000 or so is probable.
The biggest impact is likely to be on wet, windy, wintry Wednesdays for Wigan Athletic and Wycombe Wanderers.
All long distance fixtures and midweek matches will see a large drop in attendances compared to last season.
The requirement for very large capacity stadiums may not be so critical in the future.
17,000 capacity in the EFL might prove to be the optimum size.

I think the change in kick off times to suit Sky is more likely to affect attendance than the ability to watch from home.
I made evening plans for tomorrow then remembered the bloody kick off time had changed to 5.30pm.

Why will mid week games being shown on Sky affect attendances anymore than the mid week games being shown on iFollow last season? It was also hardly that difficult to watch most weekend games on iFollow last season?
Moving the kick off times may have an effect but hopefully they won't be that many home game affected, unless we're successful and, if we are, then attendance will increase in any event.

Change in kick off time tomorrow has put a lot of people I know off going, first time in a fair few seasons we haven't got a large group heading to the Mem for the first home game.

I would say that a mid week home game being on ifollow for a tenner or going to the game, then going to the game would be most fans solution. Going to the game or watching on sky (that you have already paid for) there is more of a dilemma for some and they will choose staying at home to watch it.

Cost me a lunch out for the missus, to compensate for the fact I won't be home in time for dinner (allowing for a couple after to celebrate/drown sorrows......delete as appropriate!). She's also allowing me a pasty at half time to keep my hunger at bay!!

Let's be honest. Anyone that wanted to watch a Rovers game from the comfort of their armcair has been able to do so for a number of years, without adversely affecting attendances, but odd kick off times are going to mess with people's routine.

You’d all better hope we never make the championship or god forbid the premier league then 🤣

We'd get better crowds if we were in a higher league, so less of a problem.

If we start with a rare win and play attacking front foot football rather than sideways possession based (but going nowhere most of the time stuff), the crowds will come.
