Being a survivor of cancer myself I will never forget or forgive the City fans with their vile and disgusting chants at Ashton Gate the first time we played there following the death of Mickey Barrett. Even by the standards of those somewhat unenlightened times, it was pretty awful.

Mickeys wife was the daughter of our school caretaker (Whitehall Juniors).
At the end of year Teachers V School Team game, he guested and came on for the last few minutes - and I was full back! My 9 year old self fancied the chance to impress, but one body swerve and he was away. I know how many div 3 full backs felt!
At Eastville, we stood on the South enclosure and remember people shouting "skin em Mickey" and he very often did.
Graham Withey went out with one of my eldest sisters mates and both he and Mickey came to our school to do some training sessions and promote a forthcoming game with cheap kids tickets. That's the way to attract the next generation.
My other sister went out with one of Timmy Carter's mates. She would often moan that she was ready to go out on a Saturday night, but they had to wait for Tim to finish his rota duty at Eastville.
On separate occasions, Graham and Timmy came over the back field for a kick about. I can't imagine many players now doing that. ( And if they did they would get in trouble - Foden for example).
Different times.
