I owe this man an apology! Last season he was well below form, responding angrily at fans and generally cutting a frustrated figure. This season, so far, he has been superb!! Powerful, fit, strong, and an inspiration.
Credit where credit is due. I wholeheartedly apologise for not rating him and for the abuse of fellow gasheads (I don't shout abuse at players, though others do). Keep going James, looking like the player we thought we signed.

I agree that he has been excellent this season so far. I judge defenders by how fast my heart beats when the ball goes near them in potentially dangerous positions. So far this season it has remained remarkably calm! James can be relied on to clear up any danger. Same can be said for Mola and Taylor-Moore. Keep it up please, its good for our heart health !

I have been one of Wilsons biggest critics and I'm still not a huge fan but its been a decent start from him this season. However....we need at least 35 games from him this year to maintain a strong defence and that has been his main undoing through his career. I also think the upturn in form is him playing in a 3 with some legs around him in Moore and Mola. He never had that last year as JB favoured a back 4, and hes no longer quick enough to play in a pair. Taylor was constantly injured, Crama was in his first season and lacked experience and Beefy was nowhere near the level. It's early doors and a couple of swallows dont make a summer but its a vast improvement. (This one is for you Wareham... )

I went to the friendly at Bath and said then he looked very sharp.
I think having Taylor Moore alongside him, with what looks an excellent signing in Mola, will help.
Matt Taylor mentioned recently how important it was to have a settled back line, if we continue to look solid we should be fine this campaign
Under Barton we chopped and changed so much in defence we looked a disorganised outfit.

And yes you’re right, at the moment it’s a good start but it needs to continue. Like most League 1 players there will be ups and downs. Fortunately the strength in this position (and at Full Back) is far better than last year which should make everyone play better. 😉 UTG!

Last season I thought when he was playing he didn’t really show any passion at all and when he wasn’t he felt like a player who was just sitting on the bench and happy to take the wage money. This season however I think he’s done better next to Taylor Moore and has done very well in recent games I hope he carries on this good form for the rest of the season UTG

Funny what a bit of organisation and a settled defence can also do perhaps? Credit where it is due.

Only a couple of games in, but apart from him looking a bit more toned up, he seems to have gained a bit of stamina, becoming more determined and plays like he's enjoying his football.
Well worth a starting position as one half of our sheeeeeeeeeeeedhead defence.

I thought the game last night really showed how much we miss Wilson when he isn't playing. Having his ability to read the game and be in position to make the tackle versus someone like Forbes who is out there running like a chicken with its head cut off

Form is temporary, class is permanent...fitness and injuries are a factor that some don't understand.
He is looking fit and sharp

James Wilson and Jack Hunt are both quality and start imo; unfortunately they are prone to injury which generally happens at the back end of any footballers career.
