From the Chesterfield FC twitter feed.
"Congratulations to Lewis Gordon, who won Fans' Man of the Match for today's performance against Salford City.
Well played, Flash š"
36.8% of those voting earned Flash the award in the 1-1 draw on Saturday 24th August 2024.
He was credited with the assist for The Spirites goal, went on overlapping runs, ended up in the opposition box several times and even had a "poor" shot on goal.
Played all The Spirites games so far and is doing well. Good to see his progress.

Seems he is playing at a level which suits him, pleased for him. Or a team that gets the best out of him. Or a manager that has given him confidence. Or fans that encourage. I hate this found his level attitude. Who knows what level a player may get to. Who tipped Devon White to hit such heights after being recruited from non league football.

I thought he did OK or better for us most times I saw him play. Glad he seems to be doing well and Chesterfield and hope he carries on progressing.

He was credited with the assist for The Spirites goal Ā Assuming this was a backwards pass.

May be he had a pair of Alan Ball rotating stud boots when he played for us, because every time he had the ball, he turned 180Ā°

Sorry to hear that but every player has a level at which they are comfortable in don't they? is it not true that most teams who get promoted have to recruit players capable of playing at the higher level and allow others to leave if they are not thought good enough to play at the higher level ?as for 'Bruno' well when he was signed those at Rovers must have thought he could, and he proved that he could do a job at the higher level, and very glad they did.! As for 'flash' the opinion of those responsible for making the judgements decided we had better options, time will tell if they were correct.

Good to hear Gordonās doing well at Chesterfield. Last season I think experienced players found it a bit of a hard slog in the transition from JB to MT. So it must have been even harder for the younger, less experienced players. Hope he does really well and smashes it at Chesterfield. But Iād be very surprised if most donāt think weāre far stronger at full back this season compared to last. All along the defensive line we are far stronger this season imo and that has to be the standard by which we judge. But for the defence I suspect we would have been looking at nil points so far. So yes, well done to Gordon and long may it continue but well done to our defence as well. We are stronger.

I read a fans comment after last weeks match that Gordon was their best signing of the summer and I was pleased for him as I felt that we made a mistake with him .
I always felt that he was a very good player who unfortunately was too small to play on the left of a back 3 and could never stake a place in the team as we wanted wing backs who were wingers who could defend rather than defenders who could attack . He rarely lost the ball but tended to be a little too cautious with the ball and panicked when he got into shooting positions and never looked like scoring.
In a back 4 or with the right team structure he was always going to thrive . He was a very popular member of the team but for some reason a lot of fans just didnāt rate him.
It puzzled me that someone like Robertson of Liverpool who is approximately the same height is the same height could be so highly rated whilst Gordon did not seem to fit because of his physical make up .

I seem to remember when he first started with us, he looked like an exciting young player. Just couldn't quite get it together for the full season. Time will tell. Wish him all the best.
