I've seen International squads are slowly being announced for the games on/around when we're due to play Barnsleh (7th Sept).
Anyone know the likelihood of it being called off?
Who have we got that could potentially be called up: Griffiths England U20/U21? Ruel Cyprus?
Anyone know who Barnsleh have?
From a selfish POV it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world as I spend a lot of midweeks on the road in the Midlands/South Yorkshire with work so could potentially be an easyish game for me midweek, whereas I'd probably be looking for a new Missus if I attempted to go from Bristol on a Saturday, but at the same time I'm not sure it's good for the team as a whole to be having a load of games postponed and a possible backlog of fixtures etc.

Assuming wikipedia is correct Josh Griffiths will be turning 23 next week so that might rule him out (I think I'm right in saying you don't automatically become inelligble after your 21st birthday, you can play on until the end of the qualifying cycle?)

Other than Griffiths missing. I’d still elect to play if down to us. Conteh important but has cover.

Thinking out loud and in reference to my post above, the fact we allowed Ward to go out on loan and the seeming lack of urgency to bring in another Keeper makes me think Griffiths is ineligible now due to age; that or we're that confident we won't be playing on International Weekends.

Recycling this thread for the Blackpool game next week...
Imagine we're going to be without Conte and Forbes, I think Griffiths is now too old for the England age groups and Ruel seems to have slipped down the pecking order.
Blackpool so far have just had one called up (Rob Apter for Scotland U21), I note their game against Huddersfield was called off in the last break, but that might be down to Huddersfield rather than them?

So many lower league games being called off, mainly due to the large number of loan players everyone seems to have. I don't know why loan players count as part of the 3, take them out and most games would be played saving a blank Saturday. Better still, they should just not add any fixtures on the international weekends than force teams to play without players.

County Cricket and Domestic Rugby doesn't stop for Internationals.

To make it totally fair they should not have any league fixtures at all on those weekends and extend the season

I imagine when the fixtures came out in the promotion season, Scunthorpe at home would've looked a relatively tough game, but it transpired to be the best game we could've got.

Maybe, Just annoying to lose someone like Conteh (one of the few consistent performers so far) for that Barnsley game who may have made a difference. We pay their wages we should be able to play them in all our games.

The championship has just as many games and they stop for the international breaks. So we can still fit all of the games in. Personally I think the football trophy games should be on international weekends and the league games, should be mid week. Most league clubs make lots of changes anyway and the games should go ahead, even if teams have more than 3 players called up.
