Slightly different this season.
Last season we managed only 3 clean sheets in our first 30 league games.
3 in 4 so far is much better.
Some of the swashbuckling attacking play may not be evident and the ball possession rate is down.
Let us hope the defensive qualities can be maintained while the more dynamic and energetic new players can create and score more goals.

Very promising. Not really concerned about the possession as long as we are using it well, like yesterday. Bit more time together and we should turn those nearly moments into chances and increased XG!

Peterborough apparently had 70% possession yesterday v Wrexham but didn't manage a single shot on target! On the flip side Wrexham had just 30% possession and scored twice and should have had a third.

Posh are a bit like us over the past two seasons lots of possession and sometimes with tippy tappy football often with no end result. From what I have seen so far this season there has been a clear gradual improvement in our game.

If you look at league 1 results and the stats each week it’s very common for the teams with less possession to win their matches.[brbr]It’s become more of a common trend with so many lower league managers trying to get their players to play out when players of that standard are rarely comfortable with it. As we saw under Garner and Barton.

I could go on. It’s the Pep Gaurdiola effect isn’t it. Lower league managers thinking they can replicate what he does at Man City and Barcelona. Embarrassing really, even Taylor set us up that way a few times last season and we were dreadful. At least this season we are looking to get it in to their half quickly and then play our football. Mix it up , get in to them , F¥ck them up. It’s what works at this level.

Taylor Moore is one of the reasons behind this improvement. A class act.

A reason why teams play posession based is because they want to produce players to sell to play at a higher level.

Personally if I was a manager I’d want my team to play to their strengths and get results to keep me in a job regardless of whether bigger clubs might be impressed with certain individuals passing skills whilst under pressure at the back.

I would love to know when was the last time we had seven points after the first four games. I reckon you have to go more than ten years back. Even longer for when we last had three clean sheets.
You could argue that our two wins have come against teams who look likely to be in for a long season down at the bottom. However, these are exactly the sort of teams we normally loose too earlier on in the season. Think back to Forest Green the other year. They were terrible that season but still beat us on the opening day!

We're never going to progress just beating the bottom half of the table sides at the Mem, improving our away from, particularly at the top sides, as to be the aim this season, so it'll be interesting to see what we now do at Barnsley next week.
