Nope, this isn't April Fool's Day As per The Athletic, Stockport County’s Andy Mangan is set to join Carlo Ancelotti’s coaching staff at Real Madrid. Mangan, who has been working as an assistant coach at Stockport since July, has been chosen due to his relationship with Ancelotti’s son, Davide, who is an assistant manager at Real Madrid. Edit: Not sure why the tweet embedding isn't working???

Twitter is now X and so if you post a link to X it won't embed the tweet. Manually change from x to twitter in the URL and it will embed. (Proboards needs configuring with the new domain)

Fair play I liked him and he steadied the ship well at a difficult time for the club. Obviously this is a step down from Rovers to Real Madrid but if he works hard and they’re successful maybe he’ll get a chance at the Gas again in the future.

Big shame though, Mangs deserved his break.

Shame for him of course but I’m sure up and coming young Spanish coaches will be pleased that a good job in their country isn’t going to a lower division coach from England.

The UK lost freedom of movement to work in the EU when a few of our population voted for Brexit. Not sure if this was the reason but that is a possible reason.

The Brexit attack dogs will be leaping on you for that comment, claiming that 300 million voted out, and the ones that didn't, secretly wanted to.

You didn't need a work permit before Brexit, so has to be the reason for a work permit to be required.

It does make you wonder how Mason Greenwood got a work permit as I assume the Spanish authorities could have used use the same argument, there are already plenty of Spanish footballers so why do you need to employ an English player.
