Having lived overseas for many years, i was interested in finding out how the team travels to away games.
When I last lived in Brissle in the 70,s it was a coach, early mornings to away games for the team and fans. Is it still the same for example today at Barnsley.
I remember going to Eastville on a bus in the 60,s and Alfie Biggs getting on the bus to the ground !!!!

UTG and predicting a 2-1 win to the gas. Will be tuned in at 10pm

I think I’m right in saying the league have certain rules in place now to make sure games don’t get cancelled due to away teams getting stuck in traffic. Let’s assume the maximum distance is 100 miles travel distance, if a team has to travel over that distance then they have to have an overnight stay before the game. Also if it’s a Tuesday night game the away team have to travel up on a Monday to ensure the game kicks off without any issues. This rule applies to non league teams as well, which goes to show the added expense of hotels etc can be crippling for poorly supported small clubs. I’m sure others may know the finer facts! UTG

Didn’t he use to cycle to home games , leave his bike outside the Black Swan… down 3 pints of Guinness and head to the stadium at 2:45.

As an innocent teenager I couldn’t imagine an elite athlete downing a few pints before a game. But that all changed when I use to play on the Downs and down a couple in the George at Horfield. I’m sure it improved my game🤡

UTG I'm quite surprised if this is the case, as I thought there were comments that our new management reduced the amount of overnight stays. Also last weeks National League game between Flyde and Southend was called off as the train that the Southend players were on broke down. www.bbc.com/sport/football/live/c990kp14ve8t#:~:text=AFC%20Fylde's%20National%20League%20game,a%20power%20failure%20en%20route. Joey had the players stay in a hotel overnight before the league cup game v Crawley. Game played on a Tuesday at usual 7.45pm ko.
He gave some blurb about premier league standards and best chance of winning.
Think Tom Nichols scored the winner to knock us out and it cost the club an arm and a leg!

UTG As far as I can see in the EFL handbook all they say is that it is the away club's responsibility to arrive on time. Also worth remembering that the away club can claim some travel and accommodation expenses from the home club. I guess if you're traveling 50 miles up the road and hit huge unexpected traffic that you'd get away with it, but if you were travelling 100 miles plus you'd need to travel the day before to meet the guidelines

To be it would make total sense. Back in 91 or 92 I believe we actually flew to Newcastle for a night game' and if my memory serves me correct we also won 2-0
