I think this game tells us a lot about how we are doing and where we will be looking at come the end of the season. No matter their recent history or their summer transfers, so far this season in all competitions Wigan are P6 W1 D1 L4...
Should be a comfortable home win and if so that bodes well for pushing towards the top six.
Could be a nervy home win. Probably then top half but never troubling the playoff places.
A draw or a defeat? Not the end of the world but we'll probably be looking below us rather than above us come the end of the season.
I'm going 2-0. If we go out and play with confidence we should be able to comfortably take all three points.

I'm not sure this game will tell us exactly how the other 42 games will go mind but it's definitely a good metric point early into the season. From what I've witnessed so far, we're better than all the lower/mid teams but quite a bit behind the playoff chasers. Based on these four games, I'm expecting a finish of 9-14th.

The first couple of league games are tough to judge, then we were away (and lost) to a strong Stockport team who will be battling for the top two, beat Cambridge (who will struggle) at home and lost away to Barnsley who will be there or thereabouts. Wigan should probably be doing better than they have, but there must be reasons they've lost four games and at home we should beat them. That builds confidence for Peterborough and Wycombe who (like us) have had mixed starts to the season.

Last time out they ran big spending Birmingham close at St Andrews, where they recorded 11 shots, 5 on target and 20 shots touches in the opponents box. I'm not saying we can't or won't win, but there isn't anything in their previous results to say it will be comfortable in my opinion.

I like Sinclair, but I would rather have Micah Anthony on the bench.
Only seen him v Spurs u21 but he looked very skilful and pacy. I know he is one for the future, but this season we are going to be mid table- ish so we should be looking at giving our own youngsters some chances.
Surprised Ellison and Lawrence have not gone out on loan. The only chances for them would be on the bench against a Whitby type team at home in the FA Cup or the EFL trophy, so not sure how no game time is helping their development.

We should go out and beat a team on a poor run of form. Doesn't matter who they are or what they spent, they are currently losing far more than they win and so we need to have the mentality that we can outplay them and can win by a couple of goals. Yes, they may actually be better than their recent results, but there is no reason we should let them show that...

Our last 6 look like this LdDLWL

Kids prices reduced to £5 for Saturday. Reports on Facebook ( I know we shouldn't listen to Facebook ) that ticket sales are extremely low but I'm hoping it's because they want to attract more kids to the game.

Anyone know of our injury list update .... Heard today that we have a few who got whacked heavily on Saturday - Bilongo and Sousa, Ward limped off after his usual five game burst.

How does anybody know after a handful of games where we're going to finish this season, it's far too early to suggest we'll comfortably finish mid table. As far as the youngsters they can only go out on loan if another club is prepared to take them. Plus with Forbes missing on International duty we may need Ellison as cover if anybody picks up an injury or suspension.

Nothing on X from the club but the tickets website is showing terraces tickets £5 and seats £10 for U14, it looks like all ticket prices may have been reduced? www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/tickets-still-available-wigan-athletic-clash

A sickness bug rather than injuries seems the issue? There's a question mark over whether Conteh will play after his travels and one player had a scan this week, which you have to assume was Ward. If Conteh and Ward are both missing on Saturday I assume CM will have to be Garrett, Hutch & LM if MT sticks to 3 at the back?

Interesting comments from Matt Taylor in his press conference regarding Jack Hunt now fit but unlikely to feature in the near future

Further update from Dan Hargreaves:
It looks like Ward could be available for Saturday as the scan was clear if he was the player who had one, Lindsay may also return but Conteh is unlikely to play the full 90 mins even if he's available.

Interesting comments from Matt Taylor in his press conference regarding Jack Hunt now fit but unlikely to feature in the near future It looks like there's been some kind of a fall out, I did wonder if Hunt was in a strop about not playing rather than injured again. With Hutch also not getting any game time lately you do wonder what's going on behind the scenes.

Only under 14s's ticket prices have been reduced all across the ground. Adults remain full price. Why don't the club actively advertise this and do some promotion, ie contact local schools, youth clubs, kids football teams, cubs, brownies scouts, girl guides etc. Surely someone sending a few emails for 30 minutes is not going to cost the earth? If only a few people turn up on the back of it, at least it is a profit.

Rome wasn't built in a day as they say.
