I once watched Rovers win 5-0 away at Wigan. The Rovers team included England World Cup Winner Alan Ball. The good times will return.

We were a really good attacking force around that time. Early 80's. I saw a 5.1 (0)? Away win at Orient around that time. We had a period with David Williams as manager that saw some very attractive football. Always wished he'd stayed longer

I remember the 6-1 win at Twerton in our promotion season I’m pretty sure it was Billy oceans home debut and he got a hat trick. Wigan were a tiny club black in those days but came in to money and built a stadium and have overtaken us since. Like so many have.

I remember a 5-0 win v Wigan in our 2nd season back in Bristol 97/98.
A Peter Beadle Hat-Trick and one of the best Rovers goals i've ever seen from Tom Ramasut.
That was the start of Dave Whelan pumping his money into them, they were in The Premier League while we were slumming it in Division 4, not too long after.

Didn't we beat them similar (4 or 5-0) at Eastville, when Larry Lloyd was their manager? 1982/83..

Tom Ranasut was a player. Great goal v Wigan and remember he waltzed past 2-3 players and Dearden v Brentford. Very Jimmy Greaves like goal. Apparently like Lockwood and Hayfield wanted top wages so left. Matty Lockwood was also top quality - funny how he improved with a few years experience! Current moaners take note. Surprised Ranasut was not taken on by anyone else. Did see him at Twerton for Merthyr v Bath about 3 years later but was a shadow of the player he was. The ex players book they used to do said he was an insurance salesman or something after football.
