Jürgen klopp didn't do too bad shouting instructions at some of the best players in the country lol …and Ancelotti has done well over the years by being pretty passive on the touchline. IMO some managers will be more vocal than others, no right or wrong way to do it. Getting angry and jumping about doesn’t show you are more passionate than a manager that doesn’t either. I think there needs to be a balance……if you are constantly on at players they will eventually get fed up and start to ignore you. Personally I can’t stand the OTT approach of someone like Arteta who seems to want to play the game for the players and make every decision for them. I prefer a manager to get the players well organised and know their jobs and then just encourage. Don’t get too involved with instruction until some tactical change is needed.

You may be correct but most managers do it. You appear, if I read correctly, to be trying to find different ways to criticise Taylor without just blaming him for all our problems. No im entering discussion on a football discussion forum, discussing various things we’ve seen happen over the past few games. I think managers about and cajole and motivate players to push a little harder but I also think managers who try and play the game for the players trying to make every decision for them while in possession mate asking for trouble. It undermines the players thought process and leads to self doubt and lack of confidence and more often than not confusion. That leads to poor performances and poor results. MT has experienced a fair share of that so it may be an issue . I was pointing out that these are mainly young players who dont yet have the experience to ignore comments that are not aimed at them. They cant afford to ignore any comments at all which is a distraction at the least. To the poster who suggested I was drunk when I wrote my post, I dont drink and this is my 66th season ticket.

FWIW in general I agreed with much of what you said and maybe some of it was misinterpreted by some. 👍

Jürgen klopp didn't do too bad shouting instructions at some of the best players in the country lol I wonder if he's getting bored doing the house work/gardening and would like a little project in the west country over the winter? now that would be a welcome challenge 😜

All sounds like encouragement and micro adjustments to get the players playing as he’d like them to.
He’s not shouting abuse.
He’s definitely not standing there with his arms crossed.
I’d rather MTs approach to pointy Garner or Barton. There’s some inanimate managing for you.

There’s very little mileage in coaching from the sidelines and again it screams desperation of someone who’s not got the necessary work done Monday to Friday. The players can’t really hear you and they most certainly don’t have time to hear think and react while they’re on possession of the ball and it leads to confusion, self doubt, mistakes and loss of confidence. You better tell Pep, Arteta and others that🤣. They are constantly shouting instructions and coaching from the sideline. Pep has even told players off on the pitch, after winning a trophy.

Please don't try to use logic and critical thinking on this forum, there's a good percentage of the population here that don't like that...

The manager that many wrongly accuse of being boring does something somewhat entertaining and it’s a problem! 🙈 Jesus wept

Only just saw this thread.
I am sorry but I can't believe Matt Taylor is out coaching and giving instructions (despite seeing it with my own eyes) because the facebook experts tell me he is boring has zero pashun and just stands there with his arms folded

I am wondering why Mr Taylor finds it necessary to continually shout instructions to the players during the game. Does he not realise that his shouting breaks the players concentration. There hear is voice, even if the shout is not for them, but they dont know that, they have to listen to to know whether its an instruction to them or not. Either way it breaks their concentratio. Especially effects the younger players who need to concentrate on their play not on a banchee shout from the bench. Second point about this is if he has to continually coach from the bench, it must put into doubt the the tactics etc they practise during the week are not being done as he wants. If they dont understand them during a whole weeks training then why would he expect a shout from the bench will do any good. I believe we have a fairly good, if young and inexperienced, to do far better than that appalling display yesterday. Our number 3 Sousa , attacking left back, did the attacking bit very well but forgot the defending part, their right winger had a free run. Conteh looked jet lagged and very jaded. Hutchinson didnt look interested and was just going through the motions. Moore is not a centre back. Conner Taylor should have been on from the beginning Yes I am having a good moan, but lets face it.........they deserve it. I want my money back !!!!! Rant over, I'll get my coat. A manager manages. Shock.

I think some people do too much overthinking. He's shouting to his players like hundreds of managers have for decades. I'm pretty sure I remember Ben Garner being criticised for saying nothing from the touchline. It's just MT's style and way of connecting with the game. I have never noticed any players stop playing, cup their ears and say 'Sorry gaffer, didn't catch that. What did you want?'
Yet another damned if you do and damned if you don't.
