Didn't go today but it sounds like we created loads of chances, hit the woodwork a few times and if we had been more clinical would have scored more goals. We now have a week to prepare for Grimsby and the players must be bubbling. Please DC, injuries and suspensions permitting, can we keep the same side? The only reason for a change would be if Stuart Sinclair was fit and then it should just be a like for like with perhaps Tom Lockyer taking a rest. It sounds like a side and formation capable of creating a few chances and scoring goals - particularly with the new boy Dawson in the ranks. Would others change anything?

Until Sinclair and Easter are fit, I'd agree that we should start with the same side. Defensively we were very strong today. Mildy didn't have much to do at all. Lockyer is feeling his way a bit in midfield and I felt Leadbitter and Dawson made us look as potent on the right as Brown and Monkhouse on the left. I can't help feeling that Balanta should get more of a chance, but that is based on reputation rather than his performances for Rovers so far - and who would make way for him?

Only thing I'd change is leaving out one of the three midfield subs (don't mind which one) and replace them with Trots. Then we can cope with two defensive injuries in the same game. Parkes stayed down after a heavy challenge in the first half and McChrystal got up gingerly from a coming together in the second half. If those two instances had been a little worse we could not have finished the game with a centre back pairing of Trots and Locks. That was the only eventuality we did not have covered on the bench.

I dont see why Balanta deserves special treatment just because he has a reputation. Pick on merit and performences for the team and in training

Would others change anything? I would move Monkhouse into the middle to partner Mansell and bring Gosling in to play left wing. There is still an unbalance to our midfield and Monkhouse is totally wasted in his position because DC is still not confident enough to remove those defensive shackles. We have nothing to fear at Grimsby by going all out attack, after all another draw will not do us any good if we are aiming for top spot.

Doesn't Dawson's initial "free" loan spell end before Saturday?

Agree with this, although not essential as it did work today better than I expected it to. I'd also look to sub Blisset a bit earlier as I thought he was looking tired and increasingly out of position in 2nd half. I do think fitness will be an issue when we have 2 games a week so need to be able to flex for that

Agree in general but still not convinced by lockyer as CM. DC will be tempted to drop leadbitter for grimsby as that seems to be his nature/ opinion of him. But as we have 2 x CM's out he may not change it. by the way. Woodwork was hit 4 times! you can see why imps have been spanked in last 3 away matches. Our 6 poibts against them could look like one of our best results at end of the season.

Why he then brought on the other two just it seems to waste time was just bizarre we really should have scored more yesterday.

Ellis always needs a bit longer than that to settle. I'd have chucked him on a bit sooner as agree he would have been a good threat with fresh legs and Blisset was struggling to keep up with the pace Dawson was playing at. Shame Ellis didn't convert that one that ended up on the Blackthorn roof, but that was our day all over yesterday. In fact that is the conference - too much blast it and hope!

I dont see why Balanta deserves special treatment just because he has a reputation. Pick on merit and performences for the team and in training why do you believe hes getting special treatment?

I don't think he is saying that. He is saying that Balanta has to earn his spot on the team. He has to perform in training and wait for someone in the first 11 to lose form, not rely on a past reputation to get him picked. Doing anything other than this would be special treatment.

You'll take that view when Jermaine is fit then, too?

If fit I'd make like for like changes, Sinclair for Lockyer and Easter for Taylor.

The only change I'd make for the Grimsby game would be sticking Puddy back between the sticks. By far the slowest part of our attacking play is his distribution. Never gives the quick ball in to space for a potential counter attack just waves his finger and lumps it up to be headed around the air.
