Taylor has said, as per a report by BristolLive: “As a manager, I still want to sign a goalkeeper. We’ve not been able to do that as yet. I hope we keep working towards doing that, not just in terms of the position on the bench when something happens during the game but for everyday training. To work with two goalkeepers isn’t enough.”
Is this guy for real ? Seven subs and Cox left out whilst Jed is doing a brilliant job at Forest Green ! Taylor is so full of crap please just get rid now before he ruins young professional football careers any further

Why keep him here, to warm the bench, when he can get have elsewhere. He's playing and developing, which is what we wanted and part of our long term plan for him. No problem with not having a keeper on that bench, now that you can make 5 subs. Better to have more outfield players, so you can make 5 changes if needed. If the keeper gets injured, we will bring in a loan keeper. So it isn't a big deal, unless the player we sign, is better than why we can get on loan.

Jed has got a great loan where he’s able to develop and showcase his talent, rather than play understudy to a top L1 Keeper in Griffiths. Whoever comes in will just be there to keep him on his toes and provide more experienced cover than Hall in case of any injuries.

I'd wager someone jumped on the forum after coming home from the pub last night! Bit of a daft comment and also got the name of our rookie reserve keeper wrong.
Personally I wouldnt have minded Jed being our no1 this season, but obviously much better for him to be the first choice at FGR, than warming the bench here.

Getting a bit tedious this. Ward will play 40+ games this season and learn loads and likely be our no.1 next season. This js a really sensible approach. Hall is nowhere near ready so we need an older back-up keeper on the bench as cover - it's not easy getting a free agent who ticks the boxes of happy to be on the bench but good enough if we need him, who is affordable and happy to dobthis role.

Sure I was a little bit disappointed that Jed wasn't given the #1 shirt this season, but he is playing every game at FGR and will be growing in experience and confidence all the time. Let's face it; he was never going to get many minutes here once we signed Griffiths on loan.. so is absolutely right to send him somewhere where he will. It has absolutely not done his career any harm - quite the opposite.

He's a great shot stopper which isn't that unusual in young keepers. He's obviously very fit, flexible with great reaction times. His positional sense is all over the place. He's also unable to command the box and and has no discernable relationship with the centre backs. That relationship with the defence could be down to other factors course. Taylor makes it clear the work of good keepers also takes place during the week. It's no good our strikers scoring for fun in training against a stuffed dummy then struggling on a match day. Get Ward back, get some competition going and they'll learn off each other.

Ultimately we have a young squad with potential who need to grow and get better over the next few years. Ward is playing week in week out at a team competing for the national league title. That’s fantastic experience and means he will come back next season a far better player. That’s a great investment in his career imo.

The question was always going to be was Jed ready this season. A decision was made that he wasn’t quite there, rewarded with a new contract and a solid loan move to develop him more. All while being only 40 minutes up the road. The managing of the Ward situation has been near perfect.

Problem is he's part of the defence which has been poor overall, would a more experienced goalie have helped the defence cut out some of those goals? If not why do teams bother with playing, and paying, experienced goalies when they could just sign youngsters?
