Matt Taylor says: "If we’re a forward team and we spend time high up the pitch the ball’s going to end up in the opposition box."
So what personnel should we use to be a "forward looking team"?
Personally, I think we should start with a dual strikeforce of Omochere and O'Donker and feed them as much as possible. I know they are similar players, but I think this pairing could cause havoc amongst L1 defences.

I have similar thoughts but slightly different. Last season, Promise playe out wide? How about O'Donker leading the line with Promise and Shaq out wide? Then a ball winning midfield and a player who can pass it out wide. Get some decent balls in the box and you never know.

Perhaps it isn't the silky football that everyone seems to strive for in the post Barcelona era, but all 3 of those warrant a start. It is more than these 3 of course, but would welcome thoughts on who would best feed this forward line

We seem to play some lovely neat passing football when going backwards from the opposition box to our keeper. If only we could do the same in the other direction...

A forward thinking team has players in attacking positions in the two wide thirds of the pitch as well as the centre, where as we only have attacking players in the centre of the pitch. We’re playing a wing backs formation but the wingbacks don’t get forward any where near enough to make it work. Taylor will either stick with it and he’ll be sacked within the next few weeks or he’ll change it and we’ll at least become a forward thinking side and in my opinion I think we’ll not only look better but pick up more points too.

Agree. We should have been playing 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 from day one imo. When playing decent opposition, no matter what the managers expectations are, a back three easily becomes a flat back five meaning we’ve no width when going forward. It’s made even worse when one WB (Luke Thomas) instinctively wants to cut inside on to his stronger foot making us even narrower - a natural WB will stay wide , bomb up and down the pitch and probably needs to be the most athletic player in the team. MT stubbornly sticking to a back five will lose him his job sooner rather than later.

If we want to play a forward looking team this seems the line up we need rather than trying to play wingers as wing backs, which seems to stifle their attacking play
JG
Lino or Hunt, CT, JW, CM
LT or Shaqs, Ward, Conteh, Sinclair or Bilingo
PC GoD

I don’t think this manager is capable of selecting a forward thinking side.
Forward thinking is exactly that. Select players who think about going forwards.
Of course their needs to be in and out of possession thinking but you can defend on the front foot also.
A forward thinking side for me is full of players that in possession think about how they can hurt, disrupt and beat their opponents.
That includes defenders who want to take the ball and pass it forward into midfield…not do as MT has clearly given them licence to do in his pre match this week which is put the ball far away from their goal as some kind of comfort blanket.
Defenders and GK need to be brave enough to give the all to midfield players who are brave enough to take the ball under pressure and find solutions. Unfortunately any player we have in midfield who is capable and willing to do that has been quickly moaned at by fans and tossed aside by the manager.
Players in forward thinking sides need to feel the confidence to be brave and most importantly take risks not worry about the negative outcomes and to be encouraged to continue to take risks even when it’s been unsuccessful.
For me a forward thinking team looks like this :-
Griffiths
Hunt Moore Forbes Mola
Lindsay Garrett Conteh
Thomas Hutchinson
Gatlin or Promise
Thomas and Hutchinson will play as wide players inverted and coming inside into pockets of space allowing Hunt and Mola to get forward and overlap.
Garrett will be responsible for giving those two players the ball at every opportunity.
Conteh and Lindsay are responsible for giving the ball to those three players and covering to allow hunt and mola to get forwards.
It won’t happen

Yeah if he sticks with it tomorrow and Tuesday i can see us coming away with a point or none from those two and I think the overwhelming majority will want him out and that’ll be enough for the board to start looking around if they haven’t already.

It is of course hypothetical, but I went with Forbes on the basis that even with the little I’ve seen I’d be shocked if he came from West Ham’s academy and wasn’t proficient with his feet. As for Hutchinson it looks like he played there a fair bit for Walsall with a decent goal record too :-

Hunt showed good foot work on the video of Rovers v Cheltenham this week, although that was against L2 opposition! Those stats show he's mainly been played as a midfielder, JB messed about playing Hoole as a CB and he never seemed to recover, the same seems to be happening with LT this season. Stats in the future will also show they've played as CB/RWB.

We’ve got a contracted squad by and large for the first time in goodness knows? These are our good times! Historicaly and factually, strike up the band! 😀

Hopefully we'll get some kind of reaction form the players tomorrow, which will encourage fans to get behind them.

Sorry I meant Hutch, I can't find it on X now but somebody posted a video of one of our well worked goals and asked, I think, Jon Palmer the Cheltenham reporter, who was playing for us, unless I just dreamt about us scoring a well worked goal!!
