Look forward to it, they should have been the worst of times and yet they were the best of times when the club was united from top to bottom,(well apart from the day of your brothers wedding!) so different from the atmosphere which surrounds the club at the moment.

Mine was delivered last Sunday. I've got to have a small operation with a couple of weeks recovery period and I'm looking forward to reading it then to pass the time.

We never seem to be good at spending money apart from when Everson was scout and we got Cureton, Hayles, Roberts, Zamora and Ellington. Even Tilson, Waddock and Channing were not really value for money, seeing we spent big (for us anyway), based on Gerry advice to stay up. In some ways I rather we went to a no buy (but we have to sell) philosophy. You can't tell me that the hundreds of 18-20 years olds that get released by the Prem clubs and either drift away from the game or go part time, couldn't improve our squad. I'm sure that there are localish players that have been released by City, Cardiff, Swansea, WBA etc that could make it (Locks being a prime example). That squad at Twerton had several rejects Bruno, Penrice, Reecey, Geoff himself was released by Liverpool. Once the players get to live in the real world for a few years, they may realise what good money they are on and how 9-5 (and the rest!) is not so easy and then fight to earn a contract. |
