For all I think our new illusive owners have done wrong , I think the setting up of a director of football and recruitment department ( however small it currently is ) is a massive step in the right direction.
George friend comes across extremely well and I hope we can keep hold of him for a long time to come whilst he sets it all up.
Interesting to hear that he says our owner wants to recruit from abroad and will be something we do going forward.

Interesting to hear that he says our owner wants to recruit from abroad and will be something we do going forward. Ultimately I think a lot of the negative heat we give the owners is harsh. As a club, I certainly agree with a strategy of buying and playing younger players with potential who can make us some cash. It hasn’t started brilliantly, but if that’s the strategy we want to go with, we need to build the infrastructure to support it… over time. George Friend is well thought of across the game and I for one think he is a great asset to us. |

This is a good listen and a fascinating insight. George Friend always comes across well and is an eloquent and engaging character.
It's pleasing and reassuring that we have a forward thinking and open minded person in such a role and was good to hear him talking about innovation, recruitment abroad, thinking 'outside the box' and also about marrying up a data-led approach and the necessary old school 'boots on the ground' type of methods.
A good listen and hopefully we get to hear more from George in the future on our in-house channels about any plans and developments that they are able to share with the fanbase.
