We travel to meet The Royals on the weekend.
How many goals will we need to score to win the match?
Probably 2 or more.
The Royals are very good at home.
This season their HOME record in all fixtures is :
Played * 7. * Win * 6. * Draw * 0. * Loss * 1. * Goals scored * 16. * Goals conceded * 5. *
In their last 29 HOME fixtures, stretching back to September 2023, Reading have scored in every game except one.
They lost 1-0 to Leyton Orient on 14th September 2024, but are on a strong winning run otherwise.
For some strange reason my score prediction is 6-2. If it ends 0-0 it will be surprising.

I definitely won't be betting on 0-0! One positive is that in their six home league games there are only two clean sheets - and none in the last four - so we should get some chances to get the ball in the net. Our head-to-head record is not great...not beaten them since 1999 (although that only includes six league games - W0 D2 L4 F3 A9). My prediction is both teams to score but (unfortunately) either a home win or a draw. Hope to be proved wrong..

I struggle to see where the goals are coming from full stop but in away game v decent opposition I really don’t think we create or score enough to get anything from games.
The manager will set up not to lose much like he has at places like Barnsley, Peterborough and Huddersfield and when it’s too late he’ll have a go at it and then claim we were in the game based off chances missed late on or dubious penalty appeals not being given.
In all completions we have 5 players as joint top scorers…
Omechere Lindsay McCormick Hutchinson Sinclair
All on TWO goals!!
In terms of minutes per goal involvements out top players are :-
1. O Donker 218 (mins) - 1 (goal) - 1 (assist) - 109 (mins / inv) 2. Forde 240 - 1 - 1 - 120 mins/inv 3. Hutchinson 468 - 2 - 1 - 156 min/inv 4. Ward 566 - 1 - 2 - 189 min/inv 5. Omechere- 984 - 2 - 3 - 197 min/inv 6. Hunt - 208 min/inv 7. McCormick - 260 min/inv 8. Sinclair - 298 min/inv 9. Lindsay - 300 min/inv 10. Soteriou - 379 mins/inv
After that you gave players like Thomas on 415 mins/inv!
It’s pretty dire to not have at least 2/3 players on a goal involvement every game…

Absolute coupon buster if we get anything better than a defeat here. Can only see a handsome home win.

Our third sh**ty 12.30 home kickoff in a row, but we’ve done ok so far in beating Huddersfield and Crawley.
Despite the field troubles, Selles has us playing some nice football and more importantly, winning football. Hopefully our takeover isn’t far off now as a group has been in discussions for the last 3 weeks, and things have started changing on companies house which is a signal that things are progressing behind the scenes.
Would be good to have this done by Christmas resulting in some stay away fans returning.
Mola will probably have a worldie as he was awful for us.
How have you lot been playing?

How have you lot been playing? Don't start them off! We have been um...inconsistent. Let's leave it at that. It's not going to be a repeat of our 6-0 twatting of you 25 years ago, fear not. (Unless you lot win 6-0 of course) 🏴☠️

I think this league as a whole is inconsistent apart from Birmingham so far, and even they’ll have a dodgy spell.

We’re bringing around 2,000 which isn’t to bad for the early sky kick off and the fact everyone hates our manager

Problem is with these early kickoffs is that a lot of dads have boys who play at that time on a Saturday. Stupid timings really. Do you play out from the back or more direct?

For the most part we have no clear style of play, but we don't play out from the back that's for sure. Bus to the ground goes from the train station is that right?

I’m assuming with early kick off and the location being a trading estate there are no away pubs for tomorrow. What time do the turnstiles normally open, may have to have a pre match pint or two in the concourse

Yes mate about 5 mins and leave constantly up until kickoff.

What time do the turnstiles normally open, may have to have a pre match pint or two in the concourse Either drink in town and get a taxi/bus or go round the ground and there’s a massive open air fan zone type place with beers and food on offer outside the ground. Or just take cans which is what we’ll be doing

Would be good to have this done by Christmas resulting in some stay away fans returning. Mola will probably have a worldie as he was awful for us. How have you lot been playing? You haven't got much to worry about. Apart from 45 minutes against a very poor Burton side, we've been awful away from home. In our 6 away games in L1 we've averaged 42% posession, and 3 shots on target per game. In those same games the opposition averaged 8 shots on target, and usually more than double off target as well. We've also had 2 cup games away from home. Lost 2-0 at Cardiff, 39% possession, and 2 shots on target, and more recently we lost 4-0 at SWindon in the Bristol Street Motors. I'd be pleasantly surprised if this isn't your easiest 3 points of the season so far. Just hoping we can see an improvement to our performances away from home, even if we don't come back with any points. Mola has been decent for us so far. Playing mainly as a left sided centre back in a 3. However, we switched to a back 4 on Tuesday and he was dropped to the bench. I expect him to start tomorrow though.
