All the young lads out on loan are effectively ‘available’, but none will be involved. You don’t send lads like Kofi out on loan to gain valuable experience at a level like National League only to recall them for a one off dead rubber in the BSM Trophy. He’ll be more than busy preparing for Saturday.
Anyway I imagine there are more than enough players on the building that need valuable game time without him being needed.

Does Forde’s suspension count for the pizza cup? Bit gutting if he’s got to serve it on Saturday against Weston, especially with Promise and Gats out as well.

Agreed a shame, but hopefully means Luke gets a start against his brother. Will be a great opportunity for him to win his place back

Would prefer it to have been the pizza cup, but we should have enough firepower elsewhere to dispose of WSM. At least its not a league game he will miss

I wouldn’t be surprised if he starts in goal and then gets criticised for lack of goals and assists !!!

Has there ever been a more pointless 'competitive' fixture in our history?
Second string side, no fans, no atmosphere, no interest, no point.

Apparently £20K if we win plus a chance for 1 or 2 players to get a start on Saturday with Forde and, possibly, PC missing at least adds something to the game.

I don’t actually mind the competition and never understand why it’s taken so lightly.
1. If fans want players to turn up then they should as well. There’s nothing harder for a player to be motivated than knowing the fans don’t consider it worthy of their attention….
2. The manager should take it seriously and do proper match prep and be in the dug out not the stands…..
3. If you don’t want the Prem U21 teams in it then each club should field full strength sides and spank their back sides in a robust physical manner and demonstrate the difference between real football and development football and see how the heads of academies like seeing their precious kids bumped and bruised and on the end of a few 5/6 goal hidings…problem solved. You’re welcome 👍

I don’t actually mind the competition and never understand why it’s taken so lightly. Then take a look back to Greg Dyke's plans to gut the football league and the way in which U21 teams were introduced to this competition as a first step 1. If fans want players to turn up then they should as well. There’s nothing harder for a player to be motivated than knowing the fans don’t consider it worthy of their attention….I sort of agree. The tournament has always suffered from poor crowds, but see answer to 1 above to why they plummeted. Once lost, the crowds are unlikely to recover. The incentive for fringe players is to get the manager's attention and force their way into the first team for Saturday. I didn't see the Swindon game, but nobody seemed to want to stake a claim in that game. 2. The manager should take it seriously and do proper match prep and be in the dug out not the stands…..Pretty sure that there is a proper match preparation, but I can see why a manager might want to watch a game like this from a higher vantage point. Coaching staff on the touchline can give instructions. You’re welcome 👍That bird has already flown. The cash incentive to allow U21 isdes is too great for most owners in L1 and L2 to ignore.
From a personal point of view, I'm not boycotting anymore, but the opportunity to watch online would be welcome as I'm always interested to see how any Bristol Rovers team performs.

Then take a look back to Greg Dyke's plans to gut the football league and the way in which U21 teams were introduced to this competition as a first step I still see no reason why clubs and their fans take it lightly. As I’ve said just beat the u21s sides comfortably and make it a ridiculous suggestion to ever have them as part of the league programme. By fielding weakened sides and getting pumped just adds credibility to the idea by proving their youngsters are miles ahead of the youngsters at EFL clubs. I sort of agree. The tournament has always suffered from poor crowds, but see answer to 1 above to why they plummeted. Once lost, the crowds are unlikely to recover. The incentive for fringe players is to get the manager's attention and force their way into the first team for Saturday. I didn't see the Swindon game, but nobody seemed to want to stake a claim in that game More incentive would’ve been to add the national league sides to the competition instead of the U21s. Fringe players have that incentive every day and I doubt mantle managers are having their heads turned by a result against a similarly weakened side with no one there watching it or caring about it. I did watch the Swindon game and it was a horrible first 30 mins and actually after that it wasn’t as bad as popular perception. Players like Hutchinson have featured much more since and have stepped up a little, and yet perception was that he was the player MT was referring to all post match!! Pretty sure that there is a proper match preparation, but I can see why a manager might want to watch a game like this from a higher vantage point. Coaching staff on the touchline can give instructions The manager in the stands sends (sent) out the wrong message to a game and an environment already featuring high on the “couldn’t care less” scale. If the higher vantage point was beneficial to the manager he should do it every game - he doesn’t - for a reason….a manager has and needs his presence felt on the touch line for players, fans and officials. That bird has already flown. The cash incentive to allow U21 isdes is too great for most owners in L1 and L2 to ignore. I agree. So clubs need to stop whining about it and tossing it off. Take the money. Field strong sides. Win games. Get prize money. And give yourself a chance of more games and a chance of a trophy. Squads are easy big enough to do so and players are fine for few extra games instead of training. From a personal point of view, I'm not boycotting anymore, but the opportunity to watch online would be welcome as I'm always interested to see how any Bristol Rovers team performs On line it is. I’m with you tonight 👍
