Is it worth having an FA Cup run?
Following the rule change related to the scrapping of replays the prize money for winners of the early rounds has increased.
First round winners will take home £45,000 and the losers will get £15,000.
In the second round winners will now receive £75,000 while the losers will get £20,000.
In the third round winning teams will now get £115,000 and the losers £25,000.
Easy home games, if such exists, are a great benefit. Away fixtures at a well supported club in Round Three also help.
Revenue from the matches and income from matches on television will benefit some clubs.
For the moment The Gas family are all hoping that WSM AFC earn £15k on Saturday 2nd November 2024.

I’m of the generation that remembers the FA cup being one of the highlights of the season.
We haven’t had a proper run for ages, last season was a sickening blow after finding out we could have gone to Anfield. I was at Norwich and we should have won.
It’s a massive part of the season for me, dreaming of that big away tie. Pretty sure MT wouldn’t say no to a few quid come Jan, and a cup run would help.
Left back and a central midfielder after we draw Spurs in Rd 3
Lovely.

So, a run to the third round would bag Rovers £235,000 and potentially 50% of gate receipts of a big club which could be very handy.

How much do we get when we win it, and which European League/Cup thingy do we enter ?
Asking for an optimistic friend.
