With the tricky cup tie that we face tomorrow and the embarassment that faces us if we fail to win , one of the facebook groups has placed a moratorium on the constant negativity and ridicule from our fans until after the match has been played.
Whilst the press are focussing on plucky Weston - the reality is that they will be delighted to whip us and make us look fools just like Tamworth have done with Huddersfield. Virtually everyone want the underdogs to prevail with just a few thousand gas heads want us to win .
Having said that we seem to have certain sections of our fans who have a massochistic desire to lose just to satisfy their own egos and prove that they are right in wanting a new manager. In truth I cannot believe that any genuine gashead really wants that to happen.
We know that there are going to be people from the darkside cheering on our opponents and they want to be able to have a laugh at our expense. Think how your weekend will be if we dont win. A quiet home crowd will play into their hands.
As a Rovers fan for over 44 years i remember many occasions in the past when things have been stacked against us that the 12th man has got behind our lads- intimidated opponents - and carried the day. The gasheads need to be up for it tomorrow - encourage and remain patient - there is nothing that unites fans more than adversity..
The reality is that Weston will be hungry to win and our team are the fall guys. Weston are in great form and will raise their game and the 11 guys in the quarters need to be in the same mindset. The difference in fitness will kick in after about 60 minutes which is why games involving non league teams stay close for so long and then the floodgates open when the full time training kicks in.
If we lose tomorrow it wont just be one match - it will be an embarassment that will live with us for a very long time.
Do we really want that ?
