Unusual season so far, we are scoring a decent amount of goals (23 in 18 is it?) but no player has more than 3, with 14 different scorers (2 on 3 goals, 5 on 2 and 7 with 1).
With our 3 number 9's suffering injuries, it has been much needed. For a team that keeps the handbrake on, Taylor and Lindsay scoring 5 goals from open play maybe tells a slightly different story?

Interesting stat. Was chatting about this to someone the other day who said we don’t score enough and I mentioned that since Charlton we’ve had a pretty good return of goals tbh. It’s interesting, we went from a great defence but poor attack, to decent attack but poor defence. I’m hoping in there is a middle ground a bit more and it’s just taking a little more time than we’d have originally liked. I think the key to all this is the midfield. We’ve seen Ward, Lindsay, Conteh and now Hutchinson start to find the form we know they’re capable of - so hopefully we’re slowly starting to click a little.

It is crazy to think that we are such a disjointed team at times, yet scores a decent amount without playing particularly well. My fear this season was going to be a lack of goals, glad to be wrong. Hopefully once we get consistency in our game, we will score even more.

Hopefully once we get consistency in our game, we will score even more. That’s why I still have belief that we will eventually start to gel & come good, last season if Chris Martin or Antony Evans didn’t score, it was hard to see where the goals were going to come from, but now we seem to have several midfielders & forwards who have the ability to find the net. Just hope our injuries can clear up & we can get a settled side, really think we got a quality player in Shaq Forde, if he controls his temperment & gets a run in the side.

It ain't great.
In fact. It is a tough watch.
All the same.
Some posters have been eager to advance a narrative that may not be verified if analysed.
One aspect of the story being postulated is based on a comparison between last season and the current season.
In summary, the narrative being stated is that " nothing has changed or nothing is better. "
There are some subtle but significant changes that question the narrative being projected.
One of these changes relates to the diversity and quantity of goals scored.
For comparison purposes:
(1). The last ELEVEN league fixtures of the 2023/24 season.
and
(2). The most recent ELEVEN league fixtures of the 2024/25 season.
Starting with 2023/24 season.
The 11 matches are the spell between March 9th and April 27th.
This sequence of fixtures had 6 Home and 5 Away games.
During this run of games 4 goals were scored and in 9 games we failed to score.
The 4 goal scorers were Martin, Sinclair, Aguilera and Baggott
IN COMPARISON
The most recent 11 league fixtures of this season.
This sequence of fixtures covers the spell between August 24th and October 26th.
In this run of games there were 6 Away matches and 5 Home games.
During this period 14 league goals were scored and in 3 games we failed to find the net.
The 11 league scorers were Forde, Hutchinson, Lindsay(2), McCormick, Mola, O'Donkor, Omochere(2), Sinclair(2), Sotiriou, Ward and Wilson.
THE OUTCOME OF THIS COMPARISON
A welcome increase in the number of scorers and a significant improvement in the number scored.
One aspect of the persistently advanced narrative does not stand up to scrutiny.
