Watched his pre gas interview. What a great speaker not like monotone Matt. Seems to know his players inside out and would imagine he's a great communicator. Would be difficult to get him out of his Bolthole but what a great Gas manager could he be with a decent budget.

A very good manager for this level, but zero chance of him moving away from that part of the country based on the clubs he has managed so far. Not to mention he is at a club who are currently in a much better place than us both on and off the pitch.

You'd be disappointed if he wasn't a great speaker, given who his father is!

Am I the only one who couldn’t give a toss about the way a manager talks?
All this bashing of someone and derogatory terms is childish and serves no purpose.
For what it’s worth I actually enjoy listening to him speak, he’s articulate and generally tells it as it is.
Can we please refrain from the personal digs, he’s an honest family man doing his best under what looks like challenging circumstances.

I quite like Measured Matt.
It shows that it would take a lot to fluster him unlike JB who was just a Tasmanian devi.
Someone who is calm under pressure is much better than someone who is overly emotional.

oh good yet another post "disguised" as a new point moaning about how the manager talks again.
You should all listen to yourselves!

I think charisma and the ability to get the fanbase onside and inspired (as well as the players!) is an important part of what makes a successful manager. Like it or not JB did that to great impact, even with so many negatives surrounding him he was able to talk his way through it for a lot of people. That said, I personally don’t think MT is a bad talker. I actually quite like what he has to say. I don’t really get the “boring” tag. It isn’t as spicy as JB’s interviews, but generally I think he comes across as passionate in his own way. Not to mention his constant yelling on the touchline which, despite a few people seeing as a negative, I certainly don’t think aligns with him being a boring guy. As others say, I think he’s more measured and I think that’s a positive. Obviously no idea how the players take to it, but they seem to fight for him so he must be doing something right.

Everyone’s entitled to their views and that’s what forums are for but we might as well have a thread about Pep, or Slot or Klopp saying how well they’d with us. Just another way of criticising MT. How unusual! 😉
What wasn’t said and perhaps should have been for balance was how Clough, when he took over from GC has been given time to build something at Mansfield. He had some tough times and according to their forum the season after they missed out on the play off final they had a bad reaction and missed out completely yet the board and most of the fans stayed by him. And then last season they did well and it’s continued. Well done to him and Mansfield for sticking by him when it wasn’t as good. A lesson for us and the owners perhaps.
UTG!

Personally I like MT a lot, and think he will do well for us if given the time. I guess all those calling for his head (I even heard such calls at the Rotherham away match - our second league game of the season when we were yet to concede a goal!) will not change and just show their football ignorance. Hope to see you all on Saturday at Mansfield supporting the team INCLUDING THE MANAGER!!!! The last thing we need is negative chanting - let's have some positivity

Good post this and agree as well, the manager of a club is the greatest PR and Marketing Manager of everyone. Interesting my best mate is a ST at Derby and their fans got fed up Clough’s direct approach to the game, Mansfield are not pretty on the air. But as we know with my Cogs thread, we’ve got a lot of 🍾 taste fans who prefer watching good football over success. Hope you are well Harley, great you have got to where you are mate and now sponsoring the club 👏🏼👍

Ran the line in a second leg league cup semi final;Forest v Coventry, Feb 1990.At the toss up young Nigel Clough shook the Coventry City players hand and said,'I hope you don't get relegated!!!!'

I remember the love in here when Boreham Wood came and their manager spelled out in his pre-match interviews how they would beat us.... and they did!
Agree that the manager is usually the face of the club so having someone inspiring has a huge affect on us as fans. Not bashing him, but I don't get that from MT.

Ill always be happy to see Coventry relegated considering how they cheated with the teds to stay up after having the game delayed by 15mins. The only time ive felt any sympathy for Sunderland.

No shade at Taylor but I'd have considered young Nigel every time we had a vacancy post DC. But he isn't moving south.
