Surely there is a case for sacking some of these Players for not putting in the required effort to at least prevent another relegation. I have no knowledge of their contracts but it seems that many are not trying or performing to an acceptable standard. As a test case identify a target and fire him, disregarding his contract as this pretence of being a BRFC Player has to stop. For many years now it seems that signing for BRFC entitles them to do very little for the Club and Supporters who pay their unwarranted salaries.

This is a true story.
Of the 4 people I go with, 1 of them had had enough at the end of last season and vowed he was not going back. But a few weeks later he was diagnosed with a terminal illness. So his family bought him his ticket and persuaded him to change his mind.
Like me and the others, he has been watching Rovers since he was a kid in the 60s I first met him when we were singing Send Bert Tann to Vietnam and have known him ever since.
He was in tears at the end last night and said he couldn't go back and face his family. I took him for a pint and then took him home. And to show the kind of person he is, he kept apologising to his wife and she just gave him a big hug and said it was the players who should have been apologetic not him. Absolutely.
That is the kind of supporter that I am proud to know and call a Rovers fan. And that is the kind of supporter who deserves so much better from the team who just couldn't be bothered to put in a performance last night. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Well I went last night and definitely wish I hadn't. Put simply it was one of the most inept displays I can remember from a professional football team in a long time. To be honest I was lost for words to describe it so just like the players I won't bother. The people I went with were a bit shell shocked to see Bristol Rovers play with as little passion as that. So where do they go from here. Things have got to improve that is for sure or else it is back down to the national league. It was so bad I wouldn't know where to start. So I hope that DC does. You are spot on. First half was abysmal. A thoroughly depressing first game of the season for me. In short, I am completely hacked off with the performances over a long period of the following: Luke Thomas Conteh Taylor Moore Clinton Mola Hutchinson They are lightweight footballers who have produced very little over a significant period, since arrival. Conteh's performance was shocking last night and discussions about a move to the Championship are laughable. Thomas is stealing a wage. Hutchinson has the heart of a pea and will end up like McCormick in National League. Taylor Moore and Mola are riddled with basic errors. We have to move very quickly to get these players, who are sucking the life out of our football club, out before transfer deadline. They are literally poison. I trust DC to know a bad apple, as there are hundreds on the terraces who can see the rotten fruit. I have literally had enough of watching this club in calamity mode, including the pub benches improvement. What a joke of a club that we have become. I trust DC to get it right eventually, but until then, I can do without. The most pitiful sight was that group of wasters meekly applauding the 125 supporters left in the ground after the DC vent. Pathetic!!!

That's why I am going to give it a significant break, because there is zero joy, zero enjoyment and Kelvin zero pride from watching that team anymore.

For many years now it seems that signing for BRFC entitles them to do very little for the Club and Supporters who pay their unwarranted salaries. This is a good question. If I under performed to this extent at work I would go through a review/performance management program and if I still didn't improve I would have my contract terminated. Sports (football) contracts just don't seem to have these kinds of regulations, unless it's for the manager. I realise under performance can be subjective in legal terms but I also recall DC sending back loan players for lack of effort (Hiram Boateng).

All for show. What does it actually achieve Public embarrassment to the players. Heโs showing the fans that he isnโt accepting this level of performance and he wants us to see heโs just as livid as we are. If they werenโt embarrassed enough after last season I doubt it will make much difference.

There is such raw emotion in your post, I really feel for your friend and his family. I know from my own experience, 3 years ago, how uplifting a good run of results can be when your health prognosis is not great. I hope that DC can start to get a tune out of this squad, to give your friend some positivity and decent memories. This squad needs to be aware of how much they can affect the lives of supporters, they should thank their lucky stars, and pull themselves up by their bootstraps. Holding lots of positive thoughts for your friend, and he is lucky to have somebody like you alongside him.

I would of kept Hutchinson and ruel out on their own after the match in front of the fans and made them pass the ball to eachother 1000 times at speed.
Lost count of the number of times they both got the ball in fantastic positions and underhit passes allowing Cambridge to intercept. It was embarrassing. Professional footballers as well. They did the same last season.

If they werenโt embarrassed enough after last season I doubt it will make much difference. At least DC is trying something different, as whatever MT or IC tried last season clearly didn't work? What would you sooner DC have done last night, just disappear down the tunnel?

Hall, Hillard, Jones G, Oldfield, Davis, Mabbutt, Jarman (his favourite), Brown, Biggs, Hamilton, Jones B. Not bad after 65 years. And I told him I couldn't even remember the names of the players who just played, let alone in 65 years!!
