OK, so I'm guessing I'm not the only one who is a bit nervous about tomorrow's match. After all the hard work we've put in to get onto Barnet's tail, we can go top tomorrow, but the additional pressure plus Braintree's apparent decent recent form made me think it could easily be a game where we could come unstuck. I thought I'd have a look at Braintree's away form to see what we're up against. Here are their away results this season, listed in league table order.
Barnet L 0-3 Gas Macclesfield L 0-1 Grimsby Forest Green Eastleigh L 0-1 Halifax L 0-1 Kidderminster Woking L 0-1 Chester W 3-2 Lincoln L 2-3 Dover L 0-1 Gateshead L 1-3 Torquay Altrincham L 0-1 Wrexham Aldershot W 3-1 Welling L 1-2 Southport Alfreton W 2-0 Dartford W 2-0 Nuneaton Telford W 3-1
Overall away record: P15 W5 D0 L10 F17 A21 Pts15 Against teams in top 16: P10 W1 D0 L9 F6 A17 Pts3 Against teams in the bottom 8: P5 W4 D0 L1 F11 A4 Pts12
The one win against teams in the top 16 was against Chester on 4th January, at a time when Chester were far lower in the table. They have since revived their fortunes with 13pts in their last 6 games to lift them to 10th, but they have played more games than almost all the clubs just below them so this could well turn out to be a false position. Also, Braintree haven't scored a goal on their travels to teams in the top 9. This points to a gulf in class and this is clearly a game we should be able to win. So come on Clarkey and the lads, if we can go out there with confidence and take this game by the scruff of the neck there is nothing to be scared of. UTG!

I'm more confident now than before reading that. As long as we play football and not hoofball I think we can do it.

Well, looks like it won't be a draw then.

on paper this is def a slightly 'easier' opportunity than Alty for 3 points. They have good current form but don't like it up 'em on the road. They don;t know what the word 'draw' means 1 additional point - I know all this 'part-time team' stuff seems to be a crock of poo, but maybe, just maybe, it will come true on Tuesday. They've just been to Halifax, now us, and then Grimsby on Saturday. That's 3 tough games and a lot of travelling. Wonder what time they will be leaving Essex on Tuesday and if they'll be working before they leave...

There's a lot of 1-0's there... Patience will be a virtue again for the masses in attendance.
