Perhaps it was because the ground beforehand was particularly boisterous, but I thought the minute's silence today was stunning. I suppose it isn't logically possible for some silences to be deeper than others, but that one today seemed profound.
Thousands of people suddenly falling into such sustained silence like that is very impressive.
Somewhere a distant door bangs... a pigeon flaps... Silence.

It was indeed and so much more respectful than a minutes applause.

Yes. Applause is ok sometimes to celebrate someone's life, but not with such a bitter tragedy.

I hope this makes sense but was the best silence I think I can remember. Honestly couldn't hear a pin drop.
and thank you to 200+ Eastleighers who did the same.

The only memorable thing that I will take away from today. A credit to supporters from both sides.

There was a long spell from the 70s to the 90s when these things were disrespected and many foolish people would continue chanting. Thankfully respect seems to be restored again nowadays.
Not all of modern life is rubbish.
