Of course I'm not suggesting that we should be glad to lose him, but maybe it will be a blessing in disguise.
- I think he's looked a bit jaded recently. He's one of only 2 players who've played all 39 lge games.
- The possible 10th yellow seems to have weighed on his mind/his game recently
- Given that he got 4 cards in a run of 5 games in Jan/Feb I think it was always likely he would get his 10th. So, he might as well get it now rather than slightly later when the nerves are jangling and experience may be more vital.
- Missing the Shots game could be ok timing. Would like have him at Macc, but c'est la vie.
- At least we have Lines now, and Clarke fittish.

BTW - shame that it doesn't look like Akinde will get 10 yellows!
still on 7. with 6 games left to the cut off point.
QI stats - he's only scored 2 in the 7 games where he has been booked, and Barnet have only got 5 points from those 7 matches!

He has been looking "rash" with some of his tackling lately and I think this is because he is struggling physically. Totally agree that a rest now will have him back ready for the nervy run in when his experience will be vital

No.
I think the last time Manse missed a game was the Bath City debacle.
The sort of player you only appreciate when he's not playing.
Organiser & leader. Vital experience in the run in.

not saying we wont miss him but a rest might do him good, having lines in will take the pressure off him not being in the team.

I thought that Mansell had his worst game I've seen him have against Halifax. I wouldn't say the suspension is ideal, as we need to keep our options open, but I'd have been tempted to rest him next game anyway. Clarke didn't exactly excel in the first half, but he offered more than Mansell.

Vital experience in the run in. you miss the point. no-one is arguing with any of that. I mean it was going to happen and it has affected his game in march so best that it has happened and we should hopefully get the Manse we know and love back for the last 5 games, rather than he, say, missing Dover and Alfreton, or caught in two minds on a vital tackle against Macc because he's worried about a booking.

Are you blaming his ' perceived poor performances' on 9 bookings or tiredness? I can't believe it's tiredness as we have averaged less than 1 game per week since January. I suppose the bookings situation will be a weight off his mind when he returns.

If it was that big a weight on his mind why did he pick up such a cheap booking on Saturday? I guess like most players he's just hit a bad spell.
I suppose it's just our luck, we get in Lines then lost Mansell!

Would be good if Mansells absence make room for Dawson to Start.

I'd start Lockyer and Lines at CM, one a great tackler, the other a good playmaker. For me, Clarke offers little other than long range shooting.
Make no mistake, Mansell will be a big miss for us. He does a lot of the unnoticed stuff. What stuff you ask? I don't know, I haven't noticed.

Tbf, Mansell being so close to a suspension was one of the main reasons we signed another CM in the first place (along with Sinclair's injury of course).

QI stats - he's only scored 2 in the 7 games where he has been booked, and Barnet have only got 5 points from those 7 matches! just as I was wondering /worrying if he would get of the seven mark, he did. Akinde booked, and then subbed 11 mins later after Stephens had been sent off. Allen probably worried about big John. halifax then score 1 minute later. happy days. These tiny things make such a difference when it is tight. perfect timing. that should create a few doubts in his head now. still 5 games for them before the cut-off point! what odds on a 10th yellow on 11th april, and banned for last 2 games of the season?

Yes - but he had nine months to recover from his contribution there.

I personally think Mansell's contribution has been immense this season - captain in all but the armband.
