For a bloke who looked on a one-way path to oblivion when he came on loan to us from the Teds, I have to tip my hat to Martin Allen for getting him to fire the way he has this season. Just wondered: If we get back into the Football League would he be worth a punt? Unfortunately I also wonder whether he would come. There were stories of him getting some nasty and rather personal abuse from certain fans while he was here last time. On this form, though, he would give plenty of League 2 defences a run for their money...

Don't be silly! It didn't work for us last time and it would be madness to assume it suddenly would now. Granted the manangement is different these days but the base of the club is exactly the same.

He was firing for Alfreton last season so no surprise that he has carried that on in a bigger and better club.

If it were anyone else but Akinde, we would all be drooling over the idea of him joining us. 29 league goals, big, strong, pacey and clinical. There is no doubt, he is a different player to the one we had FOUR years ago.
Whether Barnet go up or not, Akinde will be playing league football next season.

Wouldn't be a punt. He will be a success at League 2 Level and possibly above. If we went up and Barnet stayed down I would totally be in favour of a bid for him. He was young and under immense pressure when he came on loan to us.

Probably Alfreton who saw him switch up a gear.
but fair play to Allen or whoever at Barnet decided to sign him. for free!
He was VERY young when he went to City. It was a complete gamble, which didn't work.
He was still very young when he played for us, and was not proven at our level (Lge 1). No disgrace in that. he's still only 25.

He has another year on his barnet contract and their chairman isn't short of a few quid.

Some would say he's found his level , take away the 11 penaltys he's scored and his tally looks less impressive . He won't find as many poor defences in league two as he's found in the conference . He didn't fit in well at the club before and I don't think he would in the future.

No way he is not league standard. Agree with this though believe he'll still be playing league football next season whether with Barnet or another side other than us.

He looked terrible when he played for us and I have not seen anything that would change my view of him. I agree that he will struggle in The Football League, and if I am wrong then good for him I do wonder whether he would have "won" quite so many penalties if he were playing in the higher divisions, but this is purely speculation. I would also point out that I do not condone any "abuse" directed at any footballer. However, I cant recall any at the time.

I can't see how anyone could think he wouldn't be good enough for league 2 next season just because he wasn't good enough at us in league 1 what like 4 years ago?? I don't know what he'd be like in league 2 next year but what he was like for us back then is no reason to believe he isn't good enough for league 2, and the number of goals he has scored this season means whether they go up or not he's possibly gonna be playing league 2 or even 1 next season anyway so we'll see what he can do soon enough
