Two teams cancelled each other out. Mac better first half, Rovers the second. Where was our midfield first half - too deep and lost most tackles !! Only two shots on target - that's a big disappointment !
We just didn't have the trickery or pace in the team to really create some gilt-edged chances. Having said that, from HT we never looked like losing.

Puddy - 7. Excellent display, safe hands, good save and brave goalkeeping. Slight mark down for poor kicking but still better distributor than Mildy.
Leadbitter - 8 MotM
McChyrstal - 6 Decent
Parkes - 7 Good display
Brown - 6 Ok
Balanta - 6 (8 defensively, 4 attacking).
Lines - 5
Lockyer - 6 (8 defensively, woeful 3 going forward)
Monkhouse - 4 non existent
Taylor - 4 no service, missed a chance
Easter - 4 same as above but missed 2
Subs: Dawson - 0 nearly cost us the game
Blissett - 5 not on long enough really
DC - 6 agreed with his line up but Blissett should've come on for Taylor on 60 minutes and the undroppable Monkhouse should've been subbed.
Ref - 4 missed a red card and bit inconsistent with his cards and injury stoppages but not the worst.
Macclesfield - 6 well organised team hard to break down on a horrible pitch. Easy to see why they are so good at home

Puddy 6 (one great save worth a goal in the first half, but could of cost us the game when their sub nearly scored from Puddy kicking it straight into him)

Disappointing, but Alfreton have given us a lifeline, I have been thinking for a few weeks that Grimsby will be the team we have to finish above, it is now looking that way.

Puddy 6 Safe pair of hands, made some good saves, kicking woeful
Leadbitter 6 Could have done better going forward, however probably had the worst two players in front of him in Balanta and Dawson
McChrystal 6 Did ok,
Parkes 7 decent game
Brown 6 Did ok
Balanta 2 Either he is totally unfit or can't move very fast, offered nothing
Lines 5 Some good touches but still powder puff in tackling as when he was with us last, disappointing
Lockyer 6 Tried but not a midfielder
Monkhouse 4 Did not have much influence on the game
Taylor 4 What is the point in high balls to our short forwards. Very poor service
Easter 4 As above, does not look fit or have any pace.
Dawson 2 Useless
Blissett 2 For a big man he does not put himself about to win the ball
DC 5 Did not make changes as quick as he normally does,
Ref 5.5 Missed some vital decisions for both sides
Macclesfied 5 Nothing special but had better chances than we did
At least we will have players coming back for our next game that should make a difference

as an mtfc fan who went to the game, I was not impressed by the gas, all the smoke you blow up yourselves is really full of hot gas! I hope the cod go up and we will join them after doing you in the semi's, and killing the bees in their nest in the final. Really all your money, parachute, fan base......I'd be embarrassed, no wonder you think you are too good for the conf, we're just happy to be here after nearly going out of business in the summer. As a reminder lines and Easters salary must equal our squads!!! Lol

Puddy 6 one great save and one or two comfortable saves kicking was awful though
Leadbitter 7 did well at the back and got forward as much as he could - it was unfortunate for him that neither Balanta or Dawson had good games in front of him
McChyrstal 7 Solid
Parkes 7 Solid and unlucky to get booked
Brown 7.5 some good runs in the second half
Balanta 4 off the pace of the game and contributed very little to the attack
Lines 6 played ok but wish he did not take all the free kicks and gave Browner the chance with one
Lockyer 6 tackled well and won the ball a lot. When his distribution improves he will be one hell of a player
Monkhouse 4 poor game by his recent standards
Taylor 5 worked hard but with little end product
Easter 5 was 'bigged' up too much last week
Subs: Dawson 3 this was a cold week
Blissett 4 may have been better to start with him
DC 6 would not have started with the team that started but he was hampered with 4 players and Gosling missing
Ref 2 missed the really big decision in the game with the deliberate elbow on Matty -that could cost us
Macclesfield 6 best I have seen them play this season
I was at the game in the seats and have just finished watching the recording. Got to say I thought we looked better on TV than we did at the time

Puddy 7 Handled the ball well and made two outstanding saves.I am not even going to criticise his kicking because he is obviously told to aim every kick down the left which with a difficult wind does not leave much room for error and as for those who started chanting "Mildenhall" when two kicks went into touch I suggest they think before they show themselves up as distribution is not exactly Mildenhalls strong point and do they honestly think they did Puddy any good?
Leadbitter 6.5 One awful cross apart I thought he had a decent game.
McCrystal 6 Strong in the air but again his distribution wasn't the best.
Parkes 6.5 Did well in the conditions. Strong in the air and on the ground and very little went past him
Brown 6.5 Strong performance. tried his best to attack and hope that he is not going to be totally relived of free kick duty.
Balanta 5 Defensively I thought he gave a decent performance especially seeing how poor at defending Dawson was when he came on however I am not sure what his best position is as i think he needs to be in the game more and play clever through balls but most of our play goes down the left. He does not seem to have the pace to play down the wing.
Lockyer 5 Most of the mark is for his defensive play as his passing overall today was very poor and therefore one of the reasons why very little creativity came from our midfield
Lines 5.5 Not one of his better games but still looked the best option in the midfield but struggled with the pace on his passing with the wind.
Monkhouse 5 Lost in the game too much. Has the ability but seems to be too keen to play a simple backward pass or just play in Brown. Wasted in my opinion.
Easter 5 Tried hard but with a very poor service and lacking a targetman to play him in was not really involved much.
Taylor 5 Wasteful on two occasions and did not really form a partnership with Easter. some good things but overall a mixed performance.
Subs Dawson, Blissett Not long enough to mark but I thought Blissett did well and Dawson was very poor. Messing Dawson about does not seem to be paying dividends.
Referee 5 Typical Conference referee. Very few are above local Amateur standard
DC 5 Something is missing in the way we are playing recently and tactically we are looking devoid of ideas and more players seem now to be below par.
Macclesfield 6 Strong team. Not sure if they were better than at the Mem or we were a lot worse!! I think they did a good job on us

its all about results and form at the business end that's why I think we will be seeing you again soon, for mtfc that's the best we've played in a while and that's your worst , see where this is going then. The cod are going up, they are rolling herrings at the moment, positions 2-5 are key....... If it was bees, brizz,Macc and fgr who would you want?
