Not totally convinced by this tbh but glad he is stay nonetheless. Not convinced by him or his tweets? Not convinced by his tweets about staying because of fans etc, I'm sure there is a much bigger reason.

He is a good solid defender, and i am happy he is staying, but DC need's to find another set piece taker as his deliveries were shocking.

Solid league2 player and should do well at conference level, always worries me when up against a pacy winger so hoping there aren't many of those around.

I hear he has signed his new contract. Anyone else confirm this? Thanks QM. Don't thank me, thank my employer for letting me hit refresh on the OS at will!

best news for a very long time.
well done everyone, especially Lee.
LB (left back) is one of the hardest positions to fill on the pitch, and LB fills the LB spot well :-)
i really rate this guy and despite a few people whinging about his corners, it is all positive.
what do people want in a player? This is what I want.
- fit - rarely, or never, suspended - keeps his gob shut off the pitch, isn't seen in Chasers on a Friday night, isn't charged with rape (even if later acquitted), isn't on twitter talking balls - loyal - has a brain - tries hard - eye for a goal, even if a defender - willing to learn / improve
LB seems to fill all these, and hopefully can kick on with the bottom one
We need to be careful what we wish for in a player. We seem to wish for more than that list about. We will rarely get it. LB has minor faults, but that should never get in the way of the positives he offers.

The defender says he has a special connection with the club, and wants to give something back to the fans. #LeeBrown #BristolRovers If he genuinely thinks that then he's a top man. Loyalty is often lost at pro football these days and he must have had interest from league sides. One of our better players signing on is probably better than a new signing - we wouldn't get a better left back than him in this league. Can't agree with much of this. Mainly because he was part of the side that got us relegated. I have little knowledge of Conf left backs. His set piece delivery made ver few GS opportunities compared with how many he took. I like him but refuse to get carried away with any of them tbh. Let's see how our professional players deal with some of the rawness before blowing smoke imo. You took the words from me Si. Very poor set piece stats and yet was always fighting others to take them. The funny thing is that McGhee, Ward and others have said Parkes was the best crosser and dead ball player. I am not enamoured with any of the team who took us down. My only hope is they have a very real desire to make it right.

Great news i think Browner will be a very consistent player for us in the conference. What's the chances we can now keep hold of the other three defenders ?

Seems only me that ain't convinced by our back 4 then. MILDY is the main man at the back imo with Smudge a good defender and decent outlet. Macca is a liability who lets the ball bounce to often and has v poor distribution while Parkes is overrated. All my opinion of course. I think we need pace at CB because there will be direct football with fast strikers down here and we can't deal with it atm.

79, I must admit I am a little worried about Parkes more than the others, but...if they get about him pre season with some good fitness training you would hope he gets back to his best. Fingers crossed.

Really happy with this. If the reasons he has given for staying are indeed genuine, then that will go a long way, and hopefully rub off on others - only time will tell.
Now to get the rest of the team sorted!
UTG!

Surely last season told us that. They are both too inconsistent as well. Hopefully we can find someone to play alongside one or the other.

I am pleased about Lee signing for two reasons:
1) He will he a very good player at this level and has stayed to help get us out of the mess that he helped get us into. A model pro with an affinity for the club.
2) In turning down offers from league with higher wages, he has given a ringing endorsement of DC. He has trained and played alongside and under him and clearly feels happy with him ongoing.
Reasons to be cheerful (part 1)

The turning down higher wages thing.
I have little idea of what he earns but if it's say a grand a week..... He is settled here and relatively happy with the set up etc. How much would it take to get him to uproot? 250 a week extra would be massive really at an extra qtr but would you do it if you were settled? It's a gamble. Who in lg2 is going to pay over the odds in wages for an unproven defender with a relegation on his cv? It would take over the odds to get him to leave imo, hence he stays.

You'd leave if you were unhappy though. Stands whatever DC is doing in good stead IMO, obviously there is still some good feeling in the dressing room. Some optimism maybe.

Exactly, what I was getting at mate. Not falling for the signing for the fans bull****.

I don't know why anybody hasn't considered that it might actually be a combination of the previously mentioned factors....
i.e. perhaps he is settled and would like to stay in Bristol.... and perhaps he actually likes rovers and wants to do his best for the club....
the two factors being considered here are not necessarily mutually un-exclusive....

ggmi, I think that could have been put a little nicer, maybe the guy and only maybe he might read that. Does that read " best fans in the league " ? It might be true but at least he is staying to try and put things right.
