I think the main factor in this thread is the depth and strength of the squad and some should remember that under John Ward we were even starting games with far too many young players in the team let alone on the bench. Now there is still some young players but the squad as a whole is well balanced and lots of experience around to call on. Lets for instance compare the Sinclair situation. How he was playing he was as valuable to us as Akinde is to Barnet but tell me..how would Barnet fare without Akinde for a long period? I have said for a long time that we have the best SQUAD in the division and this is testament to the astute work of DC. I am not saying we have the best TEAM in the division or play the best in the division but definitely the squad is the strongest and even players not in the matchday squad at the moment can do a useful job.

Yeah I agree with you Steve to an extent. Like you say, I don't think one player being out has made a massive difference to us. Macca was out and in stepped Trotman who did a grand job. Sinclair was injured and Lockyer came in and we won 5 games on the spin. Easter out yesterday and up steps Ellis Harrison. Mildenhall out and Puddy came in and did a job. Not one player being out makes us significantly weaker.

When you look back, I really can't believe how much more confident I am about our team compared to say last season when we were chucking kids in at the deep end, playing strikers on the wing or when McGhee was manager and he was playing Virgo up front. Promotion or not this season, Clarke has made be proud to be a gashead again and I hope to god he is here next season.

Darrell should be congratulated on the squad he has built this season, it is a League squad he is putting together.
I sense that players know what is expected and what they have to do these days unlike under previous regimes.

In fairness John Ward made us all "proud to be a Gashead again" he really lifted the club from a dark place, but it later went wrong. Let's hope DC can give us some prolonged contentment cause we're a fickle bunch.

Man Utd had Yorke, Cole, Solskjaer and Sheringham. We have Taylor, Easter, Blisset and Harrison! Mangotsfiield United ? You don't want to be comparing us with them. We ain't that bad yet.

Even today he missed an exact same chance to which Taylor just scored before going off injured.
Not that the defender got back and cleared it off the line? FFS. We won 5-1 and still criticise.

I tend to agree with the OP. Felt like a luxury signing to me at the time; a response to some fans clamouring for "star quality". I predicted he'd spend most of his time injured and so far that's been the case.
When he has played he's shown his experience in little things like his touches and I'm sure he'll be a good squad player and a good influence on the younger players but I still don't think he's the world beater he's been hyped up to be, he never has in his long career.

Starting to think this guy was a bad signing. Infact I stated on here somewhere that the saga surrounding the chase to sign him was a joke considering DC only wanted players who wanted to play for us for the right reasons. It was clear from day 1 that Easter only wanted to come here as it was closer to his home. When we finally signed him I to was cautiously excited, but what exactly has he done. He got injured and sat on the side lines as we amassed points and put together a 5 wins in 5 game spell, before coming back and upsetting the apple cES485987850.art. Ok he scored against aldershot but what since. Even today he missed an exact same chance to which Taylor just scored before going off injured. On comes our best goal scorer, leading the line and again, we suddenly looked a threat up front. I honestly believe that Taylor and Harrison are the men to lead us to 4 more wins with big nath being the man on the bench to bring off the bench. I'm not sure where Easter fits in. Discuss? Agree, Ellis Harrison is our best forward, and would like to see him up top with Easter, who has been a proven goalscorer over many seasons. Taylor is a decent footballer but not a natural goalscorer, that is why our goals for total is so poor and could yet cost BRFC automatic promotion this season.

Whenever Taylor hasn't played we've been sh|t up front and hardly created any chances or even troubled teams. The idea he should be dropped at this most important time of the season Is laughable in my opinion. He's our best attacking player and our top scorer.

I have never doubted him, always had a feeling he would do well for us but didn't think we would be where we are now. Easter IMO is a quality signing, with experience, still with pace and knows exactly where the goal is, he would've scored had it not been for a bit of last ditch defending. DC must pair him and Harrison up front.
