Starting to think this guy was a bad signing. Infact I stated on here somewhere that the saga surrounding the chase to sign him was a joke considering DC only wanted players who wanted to play for us for the right reasons. It was clear from day 1 that Easter only wanted to come here as it was closer to his home. When we finally signed him I to was cautiously excited, but what exactly has he done. He got injured and sat on the side lines as we amassed points and put together a 5 wins in 5 game spell, before coming back and upsetting the apple cES485987850.art. Ok he scored against aldershot but what since. Even today he missed an exact same chance to which Taylor just scored before going off injured. On comes our best goal scorer, leading the line and again, we suddenly looked a threat up front. I honestly believe that Taylor and Harrison are the men to lead us to 4 more wins with big nath being the man on the bench to bring off the bench. I'm not sure where Easter fits in. Discuss?

He can't help getting injured to be fair. Although Harrison and Taylor looked very good today, they haven't always this season. Easter has only played twice for any length of time so it's unfair to criticise. It was also 2-0 when he went off so not like we weren't already hitting the net with him on the field.

Disagree completely. The bloke has played 2 full matches pretty much and in one of those he was our best player. I actually think he was an astute signing and it is possible he could have a big part to play yet. Harrison is definitely coming on as a player but let's not forget that if our strikeforce was that amazing before then we wouldn't have needed to sign Easter. Hopefully I will be bringing this thread back up in a few weeks when Easter scores the goal that sends us up.

I hope so to mate, however the guy has played 3 games from the start, completing 2 and scoring 1. We are top inspite of the Easter signing, not because of.

I am happy we have Easter and believe he will have an impact, like he did against Aldershot and when he came on at Halifax. We have some good combinations for the front two now, thought Blissett and Ellis looked good together at the end

Sorry but I think you have Easter all wrong. You only had to see the anger on his face when he had to come off today. I just hope it is not a serious injury today as i think he will still more than justify signing and if we go up will prove his worth again next season.

I hope I'm proved wrong but at the same time would rather have the young lads up front who have done well in Easters absence and I'd imagine at half the wage, to start for us. Just don't see what Easter brings. UTG

Easter looked sharp as a tack vs Aldershot, and total quality.
worked very hard, chased and harried. real burst of pace. that's not the sign of a man just picking up his wages.
he's 32. his body isn't what it used to be. sadly.
Funny that Easter seems very humble, pensive and softly spoken in interviews, yet is already being questioned, whereas I will never forget Jamie White bragging in his signing-on interview that 'anything in the box will be in the back of the net'. White scored ZERO for us and never even looked as if he could / would get himself fit.
Whatever happens Easter is with us next season anyway so we might as well get behind him.

I would just like to wish all Rovers fans a happy Easter: If he is happy on Monday then either he will have scored or Rovers will have won, or both (ideally)

He looked bloody good against Aldershot. Also, we should remember that part of the point in signing him is not that he is so much better than what we've got, but to safeguard us against just this sort of injury. We've now got four specialist strikers for two places. We'll each have our preferences but I don't fret too much whichever of them plays.

True Steve i have no doubt Jermaine Easter is committed and he has looked a quality above. He can't help getting injured and has been unlucky. hoping the reports are correct and that this was precautionary taking him off yesterday

To me this is somewhat missing the point. We looked dangerous with and without him. What we have is strength in depth. All our frontmen have something to offer, but none are the 100% real deal. Welcome to the conference where fitness levels, pitches and style of play mean ability to switch it about is a massive asset.
I never thought we'd have the depth of squad we have but feels like a winning strategy to me. It even feels like it's coming good in the middle, mansell looked sharp again yesterday I thought and lines is proving to be more than the luxury player some feared. We could do with Sinclair back but again, our approach has shown we can do without him as we will need to with Dawson if things go that way.
See you at kiddyminster!

If we get up this year there will be many reasons why and one reason near the top of the list will be depthand flexibility of squad, inckuding loan signings. Ok, not all signings have quite worked but show me any manager who is perfect.
