With Palace's brilliant win over Man City last night it got me thinking about what a brilliant job he's done at two clubs this season despite conditions being against him:
NEWCASTLE With Pardew: P19 W7 D5 L7 Pts26 Post-Pardew: P12 W2 D3 L7 Pts9
CRYSTAL PALACE Pre-Pardew: P20 W3 D8 L9 Pts17 With Pardew: P11 W7 D1 L3 Pts22
If you combine the two clubs: With Pardew: P30 W14 D6 L10 Pts48 Without Pardew: P32 W5 D11 L16 Pts26
I know this isn't scientific, but the combined pts with Pardew is good enough for 8th in the Premiership, just 6 pts behing 5th place Liverpool with a game in hand. The combined pts without Pardew is good enough only for 18th place in the Premiership, in the relegation zone with all the clubs around them having at least one game in hand. In other words, serious trouble.
It can therefore be argued that Pardew has saved not one, but two clubs from relegation this season. A great achievement and on a personal level, to manage to walk away from Newcastle on his own terms with his head held high, given everything he had to deal with from the fans and the owner whilst he was there, is nothing short of incredible.
Well done Pardew, definitely gets my vote for manager of the year.

His name never springs to mind when I think of good managers but his record, especially this season, speaks for itself really.

His name never springs to mind when I think of good managers but his record, especially this season, speaks for itself really. He was under the radar at Newcastle, mainly because the board has no ambition other than to stay mid table and make a profit.
