Just been tweeted by an Evening Post journo that he's in Crawley at the moment finalising the move - announced later today.
Another striker needed then!

Tbf, his one season here where he had decent service (from Muzzy) he did OK and scored some goals.
The season before last he barely played due to injury and last season we had probably the worst set of wingers in the history of the club 'supplying' him.
He's a player totally dependant on the players around him and service he does (or doesn't) recieve. He didn't recieve any here last year and therefore didn't score any goals.
If Crawley have some widemen who can deliver a decent ball into the box then he'll score goals for them next season. He'll be a decent option off the bench I imagine.
Always gave 100% for us and is a top bloke, so good luck to him.

This reminds me of the pre-xmas game (York in the FA Cup I think) where he came on and it was obvious he was organsing the attack at free-kicks and corners. For whatever reason in that game he organised and we benefited from it. Dunno why it didn't work the same way in the other games.

So this will be the equivalent of us signing a striker who was relegated from the conference south/north last season! Christ the Rovers forum(s) would go into meltdown.Cant be signing him based purely on his performance against them can they? Good luck to Matt if the deed is done though.

Crawley Town swoop for Bristol Rovers strikerBy Crawley News | Posted: June 27, 2014 2116167 Matt Harrold in action against the Reds last season. Picture: James Boardman Comments (0) Crawley Town manager John Gregory has completed his ninth signing of the summer after sealing a deal for Bristol Rovers striker Matt Harrold. The experienced 29-year-old has spent three years at the Memorial Stadium, although he did miss most of the 2012-13 campaign through injury. The London-born forward began his career with Grays Athletic and played for Wingate & Finchley and Harlow Town before getting his breakthrough in the Football League with Brentford. He has also had spells at Yeovil, Southend, Wycombe and Shrewsbury, as well as loan periods at Dagenham & Redbridge and Grimsby. He is the second striker to join the Reds this week, following Izale McLeod's arrival at the Checkatrade.com Stadium earlier this week. Manager Gregory said: "Matt will give our attack a real physical presence. "But he’s also very good on the floor and links the play well. In the last four years, Matt has averaged a goal every 2.9 games which is a very impressive statistic. “Izale McLeod is averaging a goal every 2.3 games so between them statistically we have two very good strikers. “When we played Bristol Rovers last season I was very impressed with him. "He’s come here for a fresh challenge and has scored goals at this level in the past and I think he can do so again." But you're wrong in your "us signing a striker who was relegated from the conference south/north" analogy. Crawley probably have a plan in place and a gap in their squad and Harrold fills it...we were trying to push a square peg into a round hole with him most of this season and it cost us. We were playing him 'because he was here' and not planning or playing to his strengths...

lol John Gregory must be blind and inept according to some footy experts! Best of luck to Matt. He will do well given the correct service. He will also be popular with the fans because he never shirks responsibility.

I liked him. It was our fault not his that he looked so poor last year.

Sad to see him go. Always gave his all. Was flogged to death by Ward as a target man when quite clearly he wasn't.
Good luck Matty.

Can anyone honestly say replacing Harold with 3 new players for the same amount as his wages is not fantastic news ? Now lets bring in sheringham

As long as the three replacements statistically outperform him then it's fine. Assuming they fit into the same wage bracket...

Evening Post stated he took a pay cut to join Creepy.
Does that mean we were paying him a fortune or they will be paying him peanuts in League 1?
