Who do people think is in line to win this?
James Rodriguez has been the best player so far IMO closely followed by Robben.
I expect Neymar will win it though.

I bet Rodriguez at 20/1 during the match against Japan. What price now I wonder?

Looks a very good shout now but like you said in an earlier post, I still wouldn't be surprised if it is Neymar as he is the golden boy of the host nation. No longer Robben for me after last night. Has to be Rodriguez so far. Muller could also have an outside chance.

Rodriiguez Messi Robben Neymar
Can't see anyone else winning it.wont be a player from a losing quarter finalist though so Rodriguez or neymar will be out of it.

No doubting Messi is a fantastic player and arguably one of the best to have ever lived but I can't say I agree with the decision to award him the Golden Ball.
I thought he had a fairly quiet World Cup, especially the last 2 games, and for me, Rodriguez, Muller and Robben had better tournaments.

Only plays one way our Messi and Arg didn't set up to complement him really. Not a golden ball winner by any stretch.

Rodriguez 6 goals 2 assists Muller 5 goals 3 assists Messi 4 goals 1 assist ( and very little else ) Can't see how they gave it to messi to be honest, same stats as Neymar and surprised they didn't give it to him as a sympathy vote if the top 2 in stats were just ignored.crap decision.

I don't think Messi was a clear choice for "Golden Ball" but i think only Robben could really be also considered. Messi is victim of his own talent, both he and the football world expect so much.
In his defense, i have to say:
Messi created more chances than anybody at the World Cup, and only Pirlo played as many through-balls. He also produced more - a lot more completed dribbles than any other player, with his tally of 46 taking him well clear of Robben's 29. Plus of course 4 goals including match winners, and the uneviable task of having all the focus on him and expectation to single handidly carry a nation.
..and on Goalkeepers, Neur? Really? Did you see some of the displays in this world cup from GK's - Mexico, Costa Rica, USA,Columbia Keepers all had better performances, FFS what did Neur do in the semi final or final?? Ah ,but he won't get criticised will he.
