Torquay are a rival? I just thought it was a nice day out! They are most definitely a big rival in this league and have proven they can get out of it fairly quickly.

Good point KP.Mansell was in their side when they escaped last time so some vital experience in that department will be brought here as well.

Think people are going OTT with this signing. Hopefully he will do well though.

Have Torquay brought players in? Interested to see how they are rebuilding, I guess they want to restructure aswell.

Sounds like he had gone stale at Torquay & lost his motivation. Hopefully his move here will bring out the best in him again. Excited by this one.

Appears a good signing - now looking for a fourth player to car share from the Devon area to join Gow, Gosling and Mansell. That should keep the mileage expenses down!

Buzzing!!!! Gasheads' including myself wanted this signing seasons ago [br Absolutely .. Excited at the possibility of having a midfield pairing of the quality of Mansell and a fit Gow if of course Gow does prove his fitness I'll be very surprised if we ever see that midfield pairing in a league game next season tbh. We'd be absolutely ripped apart in midfield. Gow is a CAM who needs two CM's behind him. If we can keep Gow fit then he should be brilliant in the Conference though, no doubt.

I remember watching the Gas against Turkey at the mem when it was Buckles first game in charge. Their two midfielder's totally ran the show that day, one was Mansell and the other was Euan Okane. It's a pity Buckle did not bring those two with him then, instead of those carthorses Stanley and Gill, who know's things might have worked out a lot different for him. Still glad we got our man eventually.

I think Mansell should be a decent addition but I'm not sure he's the creative spark we're looking for in the centre of our midfield; not based on what I've read on the Torquay forum anyway.
He's obviously not a bad player, he'll add experience to a young side and his attitude and work rate are first class. I'd rather have him than O'Toole and I genuinely mean that.
If we'll be adding another central midfielder with more creative flair in addition to Mansell, then I think he's a good signing who gives us more options in a position we're short on numbers.
I'm hoping this is the case because with Lockyer likely to be utilised in 4 or 5 different positions throughout the season we only really have Clarke as a natural central midfielder in the first team squad.
I said last week I thought we still needed 2 central midfielders since O'Toole's departure so I'm hoping there is 1 more to come.
Still Need:
1 - GK 1 - CB 1 - CM 3 - WINGERS
Obviously if we lose any more players like Smith or Harrold etc you can add a few more to that list.

3 wingers? On top of Mo, Harrison, and Gosling? Can't see that. We need a decent, quick CB and a tough CM firstly.

If he has the same attitude as last season then he's not worth listing as an option on the wing because he won't play. And Mo will be an option for Northampton, but not us! (I assume you mean Santos, but he'll be bullied in non-league IMO)

Interesting that the security of a two-year contract was one of the reasons he signed.
All the other players Clarkie has signed have been 1 year deals I believe.
