Much happier with this signing. Unconvinced on the other three but happy to give them a go.

Mansell bids heartfelt farewell to Torquay after joining Bristol RoversBy Western Morning News | Posted: June 26, 2014 By David Thomas Even though he will pull on another shirt next season – the blue-and-white quarters of Conference rivals Bristol Rovers – Lee Mansell says he will cheer on Torquay United until they have regained their own place in the Football League. The Gulls’ captain and longest-serving player has ended eight eventful years at Plainmoor by signing a two-year contract to play for the Pirates. “Getting relegated last season will stay with me for the rest of my days, and I will be truly gutted until Torquay get back into the League again,” said the 31-year-old midfielder. “Apart from the two games between Torquay and Rovers next season, I will be cheering the Gulls on every week. “The perfect season for me will be Bristol Rovers and Torquay United to go up.” Gloucester-born Mansell stressed: “It goes without saying how much I’ve loved playing for Torquay, but I still didn’t expect leaving to be as emotional as it has been. “The club has been my life, and my family’s life, for eight years, and I can’t believe that I won’t be turning up to Seale Hayne for pre-season next week. “But I’ve been part of the fixtures and fittings at Plainmoor for so long, and I believe that maybe I needed a new challenge, a kick up the backside. They say all good things come to an end. “The best way I can think to describe it as an amicable divorce,” he added. “I’m grateful that Torquay offered me another contract. It wasn’t one that I couldn’t turn down, but a week ago there was a real chance that I might take it. “I can’t thank Greavesie [manager Chris Hargreaves] enough for giving me more time to think about it, because then Rovers came along. “They were offering two years, instead of one at Torquay, and at my age that extra security is very important. “We have two young girls and another one on the way. It was always our plan to move back to the Gloucester area eventually, and we decided that this was too good an opportunity to turn down. “I’m leaving one good, well-run club to go to a bigger club in a big city where the expectations next year will be massive, and that really does excite me – I wouldn’t be human otherwise. “It had to be something special for me to leave. But it gives other people, and a new captain, an opportunity to make their own mark at Torquay,” Mansell concluded. I think Mansell should be a decent addition but I'm not sure he's the creative spark we're looking for in the centre of our midfield; not based on what I've read on the Torquay forum anyway. He's obviously not a bad player, he'll add experience to a young side and his attitude and work rate are first class. I'd rather have him than O'Toole and I genuinely mean that. If we'll be adding another central midfielder with more creative flair in addition to Mansell, then I think he's a good signing who gives us more options in a position we're short on numbers. I'm hoping this is the case because with Lockyer likely to be utilised in 4 or 5 different positions throughout the season we only really have Clarke as a natural central midfielder in the first team squad. I said last week I thought we still needed 2 central midfielders since O'Toole's departure so I'm hoping there is 1 more to come. Still Need: 1 - GK 1 - CB 1 - CM 3 - WINGERS Obviously if we lose any more players like Smith or Harrold etc you can add a few more to that list. Gasattack any chance of you coming on Tues to the Wellie - would be great to meet you and talk some footie. You know your footie and The Rovers !!

3 wingers? On top of Mo, Harrison, and Gosling? Can't see that. We need a decent, quick CB and a tough CM firstly. I have to be honest and say I don't rate Santos or Harrison. Harrison got a 3 year contract on the back of a few good runs and a couple of goals but was awful last season and clearly has an attitude problem. We've transfer listed him but it's no surprise to me that there have been no takers. I don't see him featuring much, if at all. Will probably end up going out on loan with us having to pay at least half his wages. I haven't been impressed with Santos either. He has slightly better technique but he rarely beats his full back and on the odd occasion he gets in a crossing position his delivery is often very wayward. I also think he'll struggle to cope with the physical side of Conference football. Would probably be in both parties best interst if he moves on and I think the signs are that he will. So that just leaves Gosling who doesn't really have a great CV. I'm hopeful he'll be a useful addition and I'm certainly not going to write the bloke off before I've seen him play but based on his history it looks unlikely he'll start all 60 games next season. In an ideal world I'd like 3 more wingers but providing they're the right players we could probably get by with 2. 1 - GK 1 - CB 1 - CM 2 - WINGERS So just 5 players to complete our squad as it stands but if any of our existing squad leave they also need to be replaced. A couple of the players we require might end up being loans as I believe Clarke has said he intends to use the loan market more than we have in the past.

sorry you are having problems. It seems we are having some server issues. It's going very odd on my phone too?? I can't do anything until later.
It is very unlikely to be Mods deleted the posts because we would notify posters when we edit or delete stuff.
Other than a few test posts I don't think any of us have had to delete any posts yet.

If it helps, for me quoting posts, editing posts and refreshing is causing problems. I can see posts on the main Gasworks page but not in the individual sub-forums. And I probably will get an error message whey I try to post this...
