Unless anyone who criticises him has the money to buy and then pay for his replacement, he's what we've got....but I go back to a point I've made time and time again over the last couple of years. He's not the right player to start every game against every team. Either for tactical reasons or for form reasons I'd hope DC isn't automatically picking him week-in, week out. But when the style we want to play against a particular opponent suits, I'd expect him to start and I would expect 10+ goals this season (barring injury).

Taylor was dropped for the Birmingham game so that surely disapproves DC isn't automatically picking him for every match? Typically having been dropped when he comes on as sub he helped to set up EH's goal. Easter meanwhile has played in 3 games but as no goals or assists and hasn't even come close to scoring like Taylor.
Purely on performances so far this season Taylor has been the most impressive when compared to Easter. Whether Easter can improve his really anybodies guess but do far it's Taylor again taking all the grief.

Taylor has proved a lot of people wrong. A lot of people say he is a striker. They are wrong.

Taylor has proved a lot of people wrong. A lot of people say he is a striker. They are wrong. Gets tiresome quickly. Replace Taylor with almost any other forward other than Lambert, that we have had in the past 5 or so years prior to going down, and I think we would still be in the conference. He was a fantastic pickup in the conference and was important in seeing us up. Scored in both playoff semi final games and put a penalty away at Wembley. He also changed the game when he came on against a good Birmingham side. Shock horror breaking news flash ...he isnt Sergio Aguero... but who the hell else are we going to have to replace him. We are skint.

Taylors problem is in his head,he doesn't think quickly enough when he has the chance to score and by the time his brain catches up he has missed it.I think he needs a few sessions with Penrice to sort him out.The difference between him and Harrison is Ellis shoots first then thinks about it and thus gets more shots in thus more goals.Ellis is a natural whereas Taylor is not Surely with MS on the coaching staff we don't need to turn to Penrice for help? Taylor's worse misses are when he gets chance to think, although if you watch the Northampton highlights it's his first touch which let's him down, as the ball gets too far ahead of him meaning the chance to shoot first time has gone. Even EH missed what looked like a reasonable chance against Northampton plus you can probably count his assists last season on one hand. 2 points firstly you have inadvertently agreed with me that he is not a natural finisher,he has to think about what to do and by then the chance is gone,2ndly Penrice is a much better striker coach than MS and if there was anything to get out of MT then he would. As for the mention of Ellis he may miss chances but his natural instinct is lets have a go ,I can score. He has confidence in his ability to get a goal, that is the main difference between them.As for the reasonable chance against Northampton he was at full stretch running on to a long ball and if he had bigger feet would have made a better contact and possibly scored.

Hang on, what are some people complaining about!?
Last season he was top scorer in a promotion winning team. Umm... what more can we ask for than that!?
We're 2 games into a new season. How many FANTASTIC strikers around the world are yet to score a goal yet this season? LOOOAADDSS!!
He contributed massively to getting the gas back into the league AND scored a penalty at Wembley = I love him! Definitely deserves to be given a big chance in this league.
Let's hope he can score as many goals, if not more, this time around!!

What no-one can argue with is that Taylor gets more chances than any striker we have had for ages and that is down to his work rate and positional play. The fact that he doesnt convert enough must be as much of a pain for him as it is to us .
I think that tonight's game will be interesting as it is the first this season when we are likely to be under the cosh and he is likely to find more space to run into. Until now we have been pressing forward and he has been receiving the ball with his back to goal and a defender breathing down his neck. If he gets a chance tonight however he has to take it

In fairness to ggmi, this thread was always going to reappear no matter what Taylor does this season.

It's just boring for everybody. It does the opposite of what you presumably think it does.
