Tough openers, but f*ck it, got to play them eventually. Let's do this. Problem is, with the mood the way it is we could have done with an easy opener as we need points on the board asap. Lose our first two games and there will literally be riots!!! And with these fixtures, it's actually a possibility.

I do fear our fans could have a negative effect if we lose to either. Both are fairly strong teams in this division, we will be playing our first competitive fixture as a team.... it will be tough. All I hope is that we see a good style of play and we put everything in to win. People need to remain objective even if we do narrowly slip to defeat. I hope some can refrain from lambasting Clarke.

Exactly Har, don't get me wrong; I'm completely with you on this one. Grimsby are a top side in this division and have a settled squad and plenty of experience now at this level; it will be one of the toughest challenges we'll face all season. Couple it with a new squad who haven't really had time to gel and it won't get much harder at this level. I just hope people realise that too. The performance and effort is what will be important; give everything and show encouraging signs and we shouldn't worry too much about this result. Sounds odds I know. But I'd be far more worried if we lost again Chester than I will Grimsby as Grimsby are a very, very good side at this level and will 100% be up there again this season IMO.

The harder the opening fixtures the better imo, no complacency from players or management. We will need to perform well and be right up for it from day one. Very happy we have a few tough games rather than those we are "Expected to win".
