Still Bitter..."The West Country side beat Grimsby on penalties at Wembley to regain their league football status - and we wish them well in League Two. Honestly."

In fairness, that one is very tongue in cheek... But yes, they still won't let it go will they??
I haven't looked, but I would honestly bet my house on the chaps over at OTIB discussing the hell out of it! Probably top of their forum to be honest!

Just goes to show that you have to be careful what you put on public display and how the media will twist it to make you look stupid or fit their agenda.

Grimsby fans seem a bit watered off at DC, but he was aiming his speech at the newspaper itself to be fair, not their club.

Let them take our clicks, it's because they know they're all going to be out of a job soon.

Right, this "media narrative" thing is getting on my tits. Firstly, we aren't big enough to have the media against us. Secondly, every club's fanbase thinks 'the media' has it in for them. Thirdly, and most importantly, anyone who follows the @mirrorfootball account knows that its entire brand is built around taking the water.
Our PR officer or whatever was dumb enough to tweet that photo. The buck stops with them. If they hadn't tweeted it, all the 82'ers wouldn't have started retweeting it and it wouldn't have been picked up by the Mirror.
We wouldn't see any of these articles if everyone had seen it as the joke tweet it was and not started complaining.
Fact is, we got away lightly with the parade tweet - just imagine what would have happened if the Grotto had been picked up? If I was at The Sun I'd have pitched a sports spread on the best examples of lower-league ****ness on the spot - with that taking pride of place.

Just one question.
Who was the idiot who posted that photo?
If it was NH, BB or TW, you'd all be having a field day.

Love how the person posting the photo is being called an 'idiot' and 'dumb'.
It was a picture of the boys on the way to the first part of the parade, to keep everyone updated.
The caption said exactly that. Get off their fecking back for feck sake.

It was just a photo that was innocent before it got explained out of perspective.

Bizare that people are defending it?

Bizare that people are defending it? Fair enough, me and @weezord don't always see eye to eye but I think he has a point on this occasion. I will criticise the club for stupid errors but I think to criticise for this is harsh. The press have little to talk about with the season ending and have made a mountain out of a molehill.

The truth is that the caption makes it pretty damn clear it was the bus en route to it's first stop. It's only if you ignore the caption that you can make fun of it/us.
I feel sorry for the person that did it; hindsight is a wonderful thing.
If there hadn't been a caption - or the caption had been wrong - and missed out a number of the imperative words and just said "first stop" then I think the criticism would be justified. But as it is, it is only being used against us because people are choosing to ignore the caption, aka the facts.
I mean if people (other teams and the papers) are going to completely ignore all the facts, then surely there'd be no difference in going down an empty Mem today, taking a picture of the stands and saying "pathetic attendance for Rovers last home game of the season. No-one turned up.".
It's exactly the same thing; if you ignore the facts, you might as well just make it up. Hmmmmmm.... now that doesn't sound like a newspaper does it!

A little example I've put together to demonstrate how easy it is to distort the facts.

They are literally scum.
Can you imagine the embarrassment that poor chap/woman has gone through since posting that picture?! The newspaper don't give a monkeys about that though. They get their little story and a few laughs and that's all they care about.
As already said a thousand times, the picture and the caption MUST be seen together, if they aren't then yes the picture looks daft. Someone found a pic of the Chelsea team bus en-route to it's parade with absolutely nobody watching them either! Nothing mentioned about that of course.
In short, the media are scum! Subhuman scum!
And the gashead's jumping on this should be ashamed too! The communication and media coming out of the club has been 1000 times better this season then it has ever been! Slaughtering them for this will make them think twice about sharing with us in the future. Leave off.

Truth is most local journalism these days is half arsed lazy idiots sat behind a keyboard watching other news sites, social media or encouraging the public to send in pics and stories.
Old fashioned roaming reporters are a thing of the past.
Very few create their own copy.
You've only got to analyse one edition of the Bristol Post and work out how few stories are where their journos have gone out and got stories of their own
Press has gone to the dogs and while they may want to mock "the worst open top bus parade" they really should take a long hard look closer to home, "worst local paper".
