Truth is most local journalism these days is half arsed lazy idiots sat behind a keyboard watching other news sites, social media or encouraging the public to send in pics and stories. Old fashioned roaming reporters are a thing of the past. Very few create their own copy. You've only got to analyse one edition of the Bristol Post and work out how few stories are where their journos have gone out and got stories of their own Press has gone to the dogs and while they may want to mock "the worst open top bus parade" they really should take a long hard look closer to home, "worst local paper". People in glass houses Avon and Somerset Police publish all their press releases online... It's always a good laugh to compare the posts there to the articles in the BEP. Woeful paper. Having said that, a lot of what you said doesn't apply to the Mirror.

Love how the person posting the photo is being called an 'idiot' and 'dumb'. It was a picture of the boys on the way to the first part of the parade, to keep everyone updated. The caption said exactly that. Get off their fecking back for feck sake. It doesn't matter what the context is. The first thing you have do do as a press officer is think "how will this be received?"

It's entirely about the context. If you ignore the context of anything, you can make up anything you want. Context is EVERYTHING. The tweet was to inform fans that had been waiting for quite some time that the bus was en route. This was clearly captioned in the Tweet which said "on route to the first stop". It really isn't rocket science. If people choose to then ignore the caption, they can of course write and dream up any scenario they wish; the only limit is their imagination. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

It was received well by me. The intended audience. Next.
