Whether you pass on that info is a different matter.

Last year's club wage budget was just short of £3.5m, I assume the bulk of that must have gone on players wages/bonuses (assuming they earnt any!) to cut that to just £750K plus management/staff wages would be an hell of cut?

That's what I thought too. I read or saw somewhere it was around the £1M area. I refer you to my learned friend Gasincider Aaawwwh! C'mon Dave gie us a break mon! I agree that the figures quoted by Gasincider are more like the true budget, even taking into account the £400k that somebody else calculated was payable to 4 existing contracts.........but to call him your learned friend? You have far more intelligent friends than young Brian

Clarke has laughed off claims that Rovers' successful attempt to be the first side in a decade to make a return to the Football League at the first time of asking was aided by a playing budget of close to £2 million. Acting Torquay United chairman Bill Phillips made the claim when discussing the playing budget at Plainmoor during the club's annual meeting last week. It has been reported elsewhere that Rovers' budget had to be cut by close to 50 per cent to under £1 million in the aftermath of relegation to the Vanarama Conference, and Clarke said: "I don't know where Mr Phillips has got that figure from. It is certainly way off the mark and he should probably stop worrying about what we are doing and concentrate on getting his own house in order."
