"My opinion of Luke is he's not scored goals for us but he's arguably one of the best forwards we've had in terms of all-round ability," said Fry.
"I'm sure that if we stay with him, loan him out and let him get his confidence back he'll be very good for Peterborough in the future."
Could be worth consideration...
Sort of signings I could see someone like Dagenham getting and banging them in for them!

Would he work well with Will Hoskins, though?

Would he work well with Will Hoskins, though? What does that matter, Hoskins doesn't play for us.

I can remember like James causing havoc for our back line at the mem for Hartlepool. Fantastic player who for whatever reason hasn't settled at Peterborough. But let's be honest, with the way their chairman is, I can't blame any player for not performing To a Certain extent...
If he's available he'd be a great signing. But surely there would be other front runners

Peterborough actually may prefer him to drop down as he is more likely to score regularly and build his confidence up. I can imagine as well that clubs would like to loan to a club like us as we are a positive camp and fanbase after gaining a promotion.

I'm loathe to criticise our players on here, and I have total faith that DC knows best and is capable of making any decisions for himself, but, f**king god, please don't sign him.

I'm absolutely convinced we'll sign him. So am I, but not as a footballer. Jake Gosling has left the club so our position of official club model is up for grabs, seems a perfect job for Luke? Unless River Island get in there first?

Poor old Luke is heading for a record number of appearances for a league striker without scoring. I really feel sorry for the lad as this is a record no one would want. But as DC says football is a tough game and there is no logical reason I can see to think Luke is the answer for us. If DC signs him then he really does believe miracles happen but even with prayer and even if he finds a rich seam of form could we expect more than 3 or 4 goals a season.

Out of interest do you know how many games he has now gone and what the record is? Guess it's a tough one to measure due to many 'strikers' being played in different positions

Guess it's a tough one to measure due to many 'strikers' being played in different positions John Stead went 11 months at Sunderland without scoring but even he ended up with 2 goals in 30-odd appearance there and Clinton Morrison managed 1 goal in 45 games for Exeter. So I guess Luke must already be approach the record. But I can't find any definitive statistic. As far as I can see Luke has scored 2 goals in the last 3 seasons, 1 at Peterborough and 1 when loaned back to Hartlepool.

Wouldn't be at all surprised if we signed Luke. DC seems to like a 'project' when it comes to strikers. I understand why many aren't keen on the prospect of signing him permanently given his... record, but with his stock at an all time low I can't imagine he'd command a fee and his wages are likely to be pretty low and DC obviously thinks he has goals in him somewhere.

Guess it's a tough one to measure due to many 'strikers' being played in different positions Don't know what the record is but he has gone 36 appearances without a goal. Problem is that if you go back a bit further it doesn't get any better. Before his last goal he went 33 appearances without scoring and before the goal before that he went a further 26 without scoring, so it's not as if we can expect a glut of goals once he pops one in. In all that totals 2 goals in 97 appearances.

If Luke James is our main striker next season we are going to struggle.
I really hope we don't sign him.

Its all part of DC's cunning plan you see; tell LJ to fall over a lot and not get into goalscoring positions, even miss a pen to make sure Peterborough sell him on the cheap in the summer.
Then he will storm L1 next season, score 30 goals and pocket us a cool million+
