Bournemouth are going to rampage into the Premier League with a capacity barely bigger than the Mem, with no plans at the moment to increase it. Bolt a few splintery wooden seats around the Mem, as per the Williams Stand at Ashton Gate, save millions, spend it on top players, rush to the Prem. Job done. I've thought this one through and can see the way forward. www1.skysports.com/football/news/11743/9855704/bournemouth-no-grounds-for-change

Their ground still shits all over ours. Even if it did have wooden seats.

Long term self sufficiency isn't something they have to worry about right now...

What would it take to get the Mem up to say a 12,000 all seater as cheaply as it can be done. I remember Gillingham doing it with seats from another stadium that was being demolished. West Ham are moving soon maybe we could get first dibs on 12,000 of their seats . A bit of concrete here and there maybe build over the clubhouse and stick it in porta cabins. Hey presto instant Neu Camp mem.

i always thought when we took ownership of the mem that we should have turned the north stand and terrace into the showpiece stand with new bars and club shop.... do the rest as and when....
i still think in hindsight that it would've been good....

Bournemouth's losses (which will be even worse this year) show that they are no model for success. If their Russian owner backed out they'd be back in the sh1t.
Unfortunately the Mem - redeveloped or not - is unfit for purpose. The only way it could be brought up to standard is by performing a total revamp, including conference facilities n'all. A new stadium basically. The key to long-term income and success for smaller clubs is the ability to make money on non-matchdays, look at the Liberty in Swansea for example.
That's why the UWE is important, because not all clubs have a pie-in-the-sky billionaire willing to shell out money left right and centre. Swansea are a much better 'model for success' than Bournemouth, the difference between us and them being that their local council pro-actively sought to upgrade the sporting facilities in their city.

Unfortunately the Mem - redeveloped or not - is unfit for purpose. Personally speaking, I manage to watch football in it without major duress.

I mean in terms of the Mem being a suitable home for BRFC pushing forward, not having huge debts, attracting new investors and more importantly being able to attract new fans. Yes, its fine to watch football in at the moment for the 5000+ who go there every week, but the Mem just isn't suitable if we're going to become successful. A new stadium is imperative not just for BRFC to succeed but for BRFC to survive.

I've said this for a long time but there appears to be no appetite for it from the club. Even if they just did up the bars and installed air conditioning in them it'd be a start.

What's the point in spending money on a ground the club is hoping to sell? The problem with the Mem was apparently the restricitive licensing laws, forbidding any drinking etc after 10 or 10:30pm, which is unlikely to ever change. Not sure we should give up on the UWE just yet as surely we can find alternative financing if we get £10/15m for the mem , even if we lose the Sainsbury's case.

Moving to the UWE with loans would be a dissaster even if UWE allowed it. We would only have a lease on the stadium and no other assets so no prospect of securing loans against it. At least while we are at the mem it's value would cover our liabilities.

A proper stand at the south end would do wonders IMO though. Also, imagine if the Dribuild stand went the full length of the pitch. It's not so far off a decent little ground. Don't know where people would park though.

At least while we are at the mem it's value would cover our liabilities. Why would we need a loan, even if we could get one large enough, we just need an investor "partner", even if Sainsbury's fund the staduim it is always going to be on land leased from the UWE but Swansea do OK not owning their own ground. Regardless I'm not sure how long the Mem will cover our liabilities are if we have debts around £5m + the wonga loan then we are already getting close to the Mem not meeting our liabilities.

We need a stadium that makes money everyday, not just on match days. So, hotel, shops, doctors surgery, gym, crèche, café, bars, and on and on and on. The site of the Mem is not big enough for this, and we don't have any money to re develop it. At the most we could get a 17,000 stadium if we are all "close" to each other, but the reality is , we need a new ground, and regards the capacity. Think one day we are in the same league as the sh**e, on derby days they get 29,000 we get 15,000. We will always be a small club

Our ground in an absolute dump. Possibly the worst in the football league.
Not even like it's a dump with a bit of character either. It is essentially a rugby grandstand, a cricket pavilion, a tennis tent and an old fashioned terrace combined into 1 ugly stadium.
So in answer to your question... We do! Big time! Will always hold us back until the day we are able to move or severely update the place.
