Anybody else watching The Open? One of the great sporting events in the calendar for me.
I have cursed the following players with E/W bets:- Woods, Casey, Lowry, Coetzee, Howell, Pepperill

I hate golf and everything about it.
Nice to see others enjoying themselves though.

Golf is a great sport, no doubt about it but watching it on telly. urrrghhh... Really? For me, along with F1 it's one of the few sports I'd never go to watch in person - at least on TV you can see 75%+ of the action almost as it happens, but in person you're seeing less than 10% of the action and spending a lot of time in the bushes...

I've been to a few of the big tournaments, and found the best thing to do was get a good viewing point and watch some of the big names play the hole. Watched Tiger Woods warming up on the driving range at Wentworth quite a few years ago, which was amazing.

"found the best thing to do was get a good viewing point and watch some of the big names play the hole" - Why oh why does every thread eventually start to talk about porn? It's disgusting I tell you.

You saw Tiger Woods warming up, I saw nearly every shot he played....

I agree that TV viewing is certainly the best way to follow a tournament, however, I did enjoy seeing some of the big names in the flesh, as it were. Recorded the TV coverage to watch when we got home! I didn't bother applying for Ryder Cup tickets at Celtic Manor for exactly the reasons you've stated - would have seen very little golf being played!
