I reckon he will struggle to get back in the side. He is the worst footballer we have. Strong as an ox but terrible distribution and useless as an attacking option plus far too immobile and slow off the mark. Clarke and Parkes should nail it down. Do you mean "footballer" in the enhanced sense of being a good ball-player, or do you mean he's the worst player? I thought once he got back into his stride after injury he was superbly effective for us. Worked wonderfully well with TP and a major reason why we conceded so few IMO.

His distribution is woeful. He's a good player for us but a cb needs to be more than a stopper now. It's no use winning the ball just to give it back half the time.

G79 talking nonsense again as McM was awesome once he agained his place after Trotman's injury, to such as extent Trotman never got a look in after he regained fitness.
But let's dropped one of best defenders and replace him with a former part timer from Dover!

Argue that.

Argue that. There is a difference between saying someone is a poor passer of the ball than saying they are the worst footballer at the club to be fair. edit. Just seen you meant passer when you said footballer Imo, I agree that his passing is poor but as a partner to Parkes it's ok. The team can stand it. I'd be more worried if Parkes were injured and we were playing Lockyer and Macca together because I think their weaknesses would be too similar. Macca brings other things to the table other than passing.

I quite like macca. He is alright and does ok for us imo. My preference though are CBs that are comfortable on the ball andCajon are able to bring it down and get us going. A bit like Rio in his prime. I am also wary of slow cbs, they make me nervous although I know there is a weight off between imposing defender and speedmeister. Parkes and macca are too immobile for me and I would like to see TL in with either of them.
When I said footballer I was talking ability with the ball at feet, not as an overall player.

It's pointless having players like lines who can create something, when Mcchrystal is constantly hoofing the ball over the top of them

Don't hit me with the defensive stats from our relegation season or last year because a) we got relegated. b) we were non league.
Defenders play an important part of attack if they can contribute, pass, shoot, keep the ball, control the speed of the game.

I agree that before he was the biggest culprit of hoof ball.

I bet TL wasn't expecting this early an opportunity to cement his place in the middle? There is some competition at RB and I don't like Tom in midfield. Although he has played loads of games he hasn't really got a solid grip on a particular position so maccas injury is that opportunity for him. Quote myself. Did Tom performance last night against a decent side threaten Maccas position in the team? Or is it too early to say? Should we be thinking about an extended run at cb for TL? We all know that's his preferred position. Out of the 3, who should be the back up CB?
