Almost broke my heart tonight when Kitey, at the final whistle, came towards the Blackthorn clapping the fans at exactly the same time that the majority started to chant "one Rickie Lambert", leaving him with little option but to walk away. Such unfortunate timing as I get the impression that PK is a truly humble bloke and had probably been instructed/encouraged to take the plaudits and by sheer bad luck chose the moment that the Blackthorn decided to let Rickie know he's still very much loved. Hope Phil knows how much we all appreciate everything he's done for our Rovers.

Oh well. Means nothing in terms of next season but great to have The Mullet and Sir Rickie back at the Mem, amongst many others. How come Pulis hardly gets a mention as ex-Gas? Is it because he managed City?

He says he was expecting 400ish and sounded made - up that there was such a big crowd for him. Was absolutely delighted to have Lambo there, says he was one of the best players he worked with along with Campbell and Tillson. Said we had better fans than the sh**.

He was made up as you say, seen him after and he said he was really chuffed that there was about 4k there, he even managed to get Lambo's shirt he wore for the game. It was a good turn out for him, he was a fantastic servant to the club, and what a fitting night for a nice guy.

Very fond memories of our club and even mentioned the recent loss of Bobby Jones and meeting a few old team mates from his time here. Great to hear Ricky could not wait to sign so he could play against us and did not want to miss Phil Kites night.
