Mildenhall 6 Kept the score to 1 with brilliant save in second half Leadbiter 5 ok going fotward needs to work on defence Parkes 5 had his work cut out against Richards Clarke 5 Ok as a whole but badly out of position for the goal Brown 6 ok performance looked slightly unfit Sinclair 5 not a winger but cant see where else he will play Lines 5 tried hard but long balls from defence gave him little scope Lockyer 6 Covered in front of defence typical Lockyer game Montano 3 Hope he improves if not wont get many games Taylor 2 Anonymous till he made a complete hash of open goal,is he good enough? not sure Easter 5 looked our only chance of a goal and was surprised when he was taken off Harrison 5 nearly got us out of jail again, cant keep hoping he will do it Monakana.. 4 Tried hard but very raw Bodin 3 no comment
Tactics minus 5 why play long ball to 2 midgets Team selection 3 back to the old days of square pegs in round holes

My own opinion from the game
Mildenhall 5 Not much chance with the goal and made a good safe late in the second half. Distribution poor
Leadbitter 7 Got forward well in the first half and put some good crosses in, but we didn't have any height to make the most of it. Won a lot in the air, which is an improvement on last season. J. Clarke 5.5 Some good moments but also gave away a couple of cheap corners. Parkes 5 Needs time to get an understanding with Clarke. Brown 4.5 Seemed solid enough, but didn't have any forward impact that we all know he can have
Sinclair 6.5 Battled hard out of position and tried to force something. Looked overpowered at this level, though that may be because Northampton are a big team. Lockyer 2.5 Completely anonymous and didn't seem to want the ball when we were in possession. Lines 3 Went missing almost as much as Lockyer. Couldn't control the game as much as he did last season. Montana 2 Can't remember anything he did. Partly we didn't give him much but he could have gone inside looking for it a bit more. Lack of communication with Leadbitter allowed the cross from the throw-in that led to the goal.
Taylor 3 Worse than missing an open goal was that he didn't even attempt the shot in the end. Easter 5 Had some understanding with Taylor but they had no chance with the long balls that were offered to them.
Subs: Harrison 6 Monakana 3 Bodin 3
Crowd 4 Ref 4 Northampton 7.5 I thought their best player was the CB Cresswell. Dominated the aerial battles although we did play into his hands.

I feel that anyone can post on this thread whether they were at the game or not. I collect the numbers into a spreadsheet, but they are also there to start debate among forum members who are bound to see things differently from each other.
Also, negative scores aren't useful at all. The scale is 0-10, so I'll disregard any scores outside of that.

Mildenhall 4 Looked his age
Leadbitter 5 defended well at times but marked space for their goal J. Clarke 6 best of the back 4 Parkes 3 shadow of last year Brown 3 started the poorly last season, same again this.
Sinclair 5 you get booked in the first 5 minutes, it will effect your game. Lockyer 3 would have preferred Ollie Clarke Lines 4 up against it without Mansell Montana 4 didn't do anything to bad.
Taylor 3 Half the crowd would have fancied their selves with his chance. Easter 3 Showboater
Subs: Harrison 4 Harder chance than Taylors, but he was taking those 4 months ago Monakana 4 showed some promise Bodin 3 By the time he got on the cobblers were so confident he made no impact
Crowd 5 for turning up Ref 6 big improvement over the conference Northampton 5 Easy day for them.
DC 2 Played for a draw, thought John Ward or Paul Buckle picked the team for him

Mildy 5- Made a good save but terrible distribution. Leadbitter 6- Defended fairly well and put some OK crosses in. Clarke 7- Quite solid at the back. Looked nervy in the early stages. Parkes 5- Not his best game. Brown 4- Far from his best, must have not been 100%.
Sinclair 6- Ran his heart out but he is wasted out wide. Lockyer 3- Terrible. We could not win anything in midfield and really missed Mansell. Lockyer is NOT a midfielder! Lines 5- Lockyer did not help him at all and was poor himself. Montano 4- Can't blame him as he had 0 service.
Easter 5- Showed some quality but could not do anything with hoof balls. Taylor 2- Again, couldn't do much with hoof balls. However, he had a golden chance and decided not to shoot into the open net!
Crowd 4 Ref 4 Northampton 7- Should have scored more goals with all their chances and that we were so poor. Best player was Cresswell at CB.

Results collected and James Clarke is your Man of the Match on his debut. I should say that I removed rambo's scores from the calculation. I had to discount the negative scores anyway and giving everyone else a 1 isn't helpful in distinguishing between performances. It would also have meant a relatively better rating for those you gave negative ratings to. If you want to amend your ratings, I'll be happy to update the results. Lockyer, Lines, Taylor and Easter all scored worse in this game than they did in any game last season. To put these ratings into some context the starting XI average of 4.4 was only lower in three league games last season. Altrincham (3.8) and Braintree (3.9) away and Eastleigh home (4.1). Mildenhall 4.9 Leadbitter 5.2 J. Clarke 5.9Parkes 4.4 Brown 4.7 Sinclair 5.5 Lockyer 3.5 Lines 4.3 Montana 3.7 Taylor 2.5 Easter 4.2 Subs: Harrison 4.4 Monakana 3.6 Bodin 3.2 Crowd 5.2 Ref 4.1 Northampton 6.7 and Cresswell received the most votes for their MotM If you still want to give a rating please do and I'll edit this post. For future reference I try to post the ratings by midday on Monday. Also, @hugotheelder and GasHeadBlues somehow neither of you gave a rating for Lines.

Tbone - Worlds best wind up merchant or plonker?
Thinking our manager is clueless after last season he has to be one of the above.
As for the game.....
Mildenhall - 4 - Although didn't really have a save to make, he didn't help with the long ball stuff. Never looked for a pass but rather opted to play safe and smash it every time.
Leadbitter - 5 - Had almost nothing down his wing, looked ok if not spectacular Parkes - 3 - His worst game for a while I thought, not so much defensively as he was solid there as always, but his distribution was woeful. I guess maybe opening day nerves? Lets hope so. Clark - 5 - Didn't do anything wrong, didn't do anything wonderful. Also has a tendancy to look long before looking short. Brown - 4 - Would agree that he dis not have his best game.
Montty - 5 - I feel bad marking him at all really as the poor sod almost literally didn't have the ball! No idea why we stuck to the left side so much, but we certainly did! Lines - 4 - Everything went over his head Tommy - 4 - " Sinclair - 6 - "Tried hard", not a winger though, simple as that!
Taylor - 3 - Has to be marked down because of that miss! Other than that was no better or worse than the people around him Easter - 5 - Looked sharp and fit but much like Taylor was being asked to play a game that he can't. Neither of these two are target men. Simple.
Harrison - 4 - Not quite as bad a miss as Taylor, but should have scored. Bodin - 2 Did he touch the ball? New chap - 3 - Again, hardly touched the ball, but when he did he looked lively.
