A blind man can see that it isn't a striker we need but someone who can create chances for them.
The strikers again worked their socks off but had to feed off scraps or create something for themselves.
I seriously despair as the best strikers in the world wouldn't score in our team.

Do what. It isn't just this season but has been for three or four years. We have the strike force i am convinced of it but we create nothing and that isn't a dig at CL eithet.

With 5-3-2 the full backs have to get forward but they'll struggle to do that against sides that press high up. It worked against the lesser Yeovil and Luton but against strong physical sides who have a lot of energy and play on the front foot with confidence we end up with too many players behind the ball even when we're attacking. I agree we have forwards who will score, we scored 3 last week the formation worked this week we didn't . DC won't get it right every time he's still learning. It's not like we created loads today so we can hardly blame our strikers. 9 pts from 5 games ? Yes please.

I agree with Socrates. DC does not like playing in the way that both Northampton and Orient today did and that is PRESSURISING the opponents back players by pushing forwards in numbers. DC prefers to protect our goal by having players behind the ball and have the two forwards using up a lot of energy by running around chasing 4 or 5 players around.

How many chances were created against Yeovil and Luton?
It was a bad day at the office, against top of the league...

Went fishing and only caught a couple of empty Corona bottles. Roadman wannabe.

Can't say I'm a big fan of 3-5-2, as some have pointed out above its ok when you are the stronger side, but I'm firmly of the opinion that it doesn't do you any favours trying to take points against tough opposition who play any formation that puts a full back and winger/wide mid out in both channels. The end result is the wing back effectively becoming a full back and it all becomes 5-3-2 instead.
Not many teams these days use it, the majority favour a back 4 and often the majority opinion is worth looking at.
How many sides these days set up with a 4-2-3-1? It's flexible, you defend as 4-5-1 and attack as a 3-3-4 or even 2-4-4 depending on how many forwards (1or 2) the opposition leave up top while the defend.
Most of last season we operated with a back four, DC tinkering on the odd occasion. This season it's becoming the norm and teams could well now be coming prepared for it.
I think a number of league 2 coaches would relish facing 3-5-2

It's a striker with height he wants, for diversity's sake. I agree we need competition for Lines though.

I think a number of league 2 coaches would relish facing 3-5-2 My favourite thing about DC...he picks a team to win a match against a particular opposition...a massive positive over the last 3-4-5 incumbents... The worst thing about him...sometimes he gets it wrong... The best thing about him...given my two points listed above he's the best manager we've had in 5+ years... Incidentally, unless we play it for every game all season, I doubt there are 5 or more league two coaches who would relish facing a well organised 3-5-2 with the correct players...and the only reason Ian Hendon probably did was because we persisted with it despite not having the key player who made it work....which is incidentally currently my least favourite thing about DC....
