I think I would like that, nice day out and rare opportunity for a fan to be in the dug out.
Well you asked!

I think what people forget is that the loan players come in and play in training, so if DC does not see that they are any good in training then he's not going to put them into a game which should be considered a lot harder than a training session. So in short these players may not be doing anything impressive in training to make DC want to put them into the main side. So why sign them? Surely he does his homework before signing a player

What type of personality is he, what is his attitude like, does he mix well with the existing squad? I think DC uses the one month loan's to do just these things. He wants to know if the player is worth signing on a permanent contract.

Its called asking people who have worked or played alongside the player their opinion of him.Not rocket science, most clubs do this as a matter of course

Personally, if a player was recommended to me, I'd want to have a look at him then make my own mind up. I wouldn't necessarily sign a player on the recommendation of someone else.

You have hit the nail on the head,Joe,practically all the loanees we have had have had little or no game time except cunnington, dawson, della verde, chapman and martin??? Don't forget lines, chris lines, one of our own who came back on loan The way I see it is new arrivals, loan or perm, have 3 tests: training pitch performance and dressing room fit. There is an optional test of reserve team (or whatever they call it now) game. Only if you pass those two do you get to do the 3rd which is real game time. I'm happy with that frankly. I doubt many loanees at this level have been seen in action by the manager so who can blame him for not chucking them straight in team. And is fairer to others in squad too

There is obviously some budget spare, and surely it's better to pay someone a month's wage to have a good look at them before committing to a full contract? Anyway, as you are fully aware, all loans are different. Sometimes Rovers pay 100% of the wages, sometimes maybe 50%, sometimes nothing.

Very rarely is it nothing, the majority of clubs that we loan from are as financially strapped as Rovers so are looking to cut costs by loaning out oeripheral players and get a cash help as well.Maybe there is budget to spare so DC is being economical with the facts when saying there isnt
