So Brian really is the messiah or is just being a very naughty boy? Oh he is most definitely a very naughty (old) boy. In this instance he is definitely not the Messiah............. but maybe one of the prophets? Remember that the word of the original Messiah was doubted but look at how big it became. come on guys why name names the only winner is going to be Nick Higgs I know who gasincider is and luckily you are both wrong in this instance, people go on fictitious name so people do not know who they are.
so lets have some sense and keep names out of it.

"Bunch of chances" I do fear that's the new consortium may well be, using the FFS as their initial mouthpiece to commence a takeover costing £30m+ seems a bit odd to me. It might seem odd if you don't have vision and enterprise. A facility boasting what the UWE has and housing a small football club with growth potential doesn't sound risky to me. Also the structure would maintain some value since we are hardly spoilt for stadiums in the SW and BRISTOL sports village can't do everything in BS3! We don't know any facts other than credible rumours so I shouldn't bother worrying about the financial aspects. 30million is a lot to me and you but small numbers to many people. The size of any consortium also changes the financial punch, it could be 20 strong? No, the odd thing for me I'd that a group of apparently very wealthy individuals are clearly using forum users to leak the fact they want to invest £30m+ in the club. It's hardly a very professional approach? At the moment most of us don't know who the investors are, nor how they are going to finance the takeover etc. Will it be all their own money or another Wonga loan financing the deal. As it's Rovers we're talking about I'm surprised more fans aren't a bit more sceptical.

A lot of people here getting worked up about "We need to be told this" "they need to make public that". Has anyone actually considered that things remain confidential for good reason when multimillion pound transactions are concerned and it's not just all "NH acting the big boy not telling the fans anything ".
Grow up people, like it or not you are customers of a business and the owners of that business have no obligation to tell you a single thing.
If you shop in Marks and Spencer do you expect to be told if their boars have been approached about a potential take-over?
In my opinion the people making this public because they think it's "the right time" are just attention seekers who haven't considered the harm they could do with this sort of rumour mill balls.

Fwiw, I think they've considered it deeply, and they have come to the conclusion that it is for the best, even though they would rather they didn't have to. Also, comparing a football club to a department store, or whatever other random business, always rings hollow.

That doesn't mean they're availed of all the facts to allow them to reach that decision does it? So the point remains - they don't know why it's being kept confidential so why do they think they are informed enough to know what's best? The comparison might ring hollow to you, a football fan, but to someone potentially about to slap £30mil down on the table, they perhaps won't see quite such a clear distinction when they consider they are undertaking a multi million pound business transaction and may be a little miffed the customer base is leaking that info they may have good cause to want to keep confidential.

If they are trying to make this public their ONLY motivation is to try and make sure Higgs puts the club before himself. Maybe they need to make it public because they know Higgs is not doing that and needs to be held to account.

Of course, but you don't know either, and neither do I. It's all a judgement call, atm. And they made their call. Leaking takeover bids is a tried and trusted method, even at the highest corporate levels. They might be miffed, or they might be pleased. Again, I don't know, and you don't know. It's a judgement call. Your criticism is no less a judgement call than my support or their leaks.

Given it's the leader of FFS and a forum user with previous form for being used to leak apparently confidential info then don't you feel who is ever behind this has already decided to bring it to the fans attention? Let's hope this is all a genuine approach by the investors and that two of our loual fans are not just being used.

I didn't agree with ITK fans undermining the BOD in the build up to the court case but this is a bit different. As has been said, the owners of a business aren't obliged to tell their customers anything but a football club is unique because a lot of its customers keep buying the product no matter how bad it is. The rumour may or may not be true but I am sure it has been passed on in good faith. Best case, this revelation will force the BOD to negotiate and communicate their decision one way or the other. Worse case I suppose is that if there is still the remotest chance of getting any money at all out of Sainsbury's, the figure might be affected if it's common knowledge that we have other viable options.

Amazing how every thread on here lately becomes a slanging match. It sounds a very exciting development and I for one can't wait to see if this comes off. Don't forget,no-one even had a sniff of the original plans. These things have been kept under wraps for a reason, but I would never doubt the integrity of jts in his decision to bring it out in the open now.

Ball is in the court of the potential new owners to say something if they want to use fan power to smoke Higgs out.

We're talking about a rumour of a potential purchase of a football club right? Why does anyone have to be "smoked" anywhere? Why is any "ball" in any "court"? Two parties may or may not be negotiating the sale of a business. What's it got to do with anyone other than the shareholders and those with the cash?
